New Skins
Have you noticed something a little different about the site? No? Guess you're not using the default skin then. Rude.
Anyway, we have FIVE new autumnal skins this year.
The new default skin is That Season of Peculiar featuring Stefanie's famed handiwork. 50 points to Slytherin* if you can guess where the chopped up out of context quote is from.
Penumbra has a shiny new MJ banner and will probably suit your Slytherins and moody characters very nicely. So like most of mine I guess.
Sleepy Hollow is a middling to dark skin from our recently returned graphics boss, Soph! This pumpkin spice latte** of a skin may be one for your debs methinks.
Next up is the Gin skin you're gonna want to have on your main account on October 31st because This Is Halloween! I don't think we've ever had a skin that screams HALLOWEEN more. This is definitely the darkest skin of the bunch.
Last but not least is The Lost Spells by Lady Photoshop herself. This one is a lighter skin in bluey-green tones that I think captures that moment when the British weather starts to turn dank. Full on moist outside, your silverfish are having a ball and hoping you don't turn the heating on, there's a chill in the air you would've really appreciated a few weeks ago but now it's just annoying because it's not quite chilly enough for sweaters yet and you can't understand how you were ever too warm in your summer clothes even though it was only last week.
* Disclaimer: you will not be awarded real house points even if you are a Slytherin because you'll probably google it anyway, you cheater. I would because I'm a Slytherin.
** In a positive way, fyi! Which is to say it's instagrammable, not basic!

It's officially sorting season! This year is particularly notable because for the first time ever Beanie is our Sorting Hat, the Thomas Jefferson of Charming Sorting Hats in fact. If you have first years to sort then hustle on down to The Sorting and get yourself sorted out.

Here there be (tiny) dragons! A veritable flock of over a thousand small dragons has descended upon Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry! The beasts, each approximately the size of a kitten, have teeth, talons, and firebreathing capabilities just like their full-sized counterparts. They also seem to be quite aggressive. The Dragon Research & Restraint Beureau, as well as the Beast Division, has launched an investigation.
Effects:
Many owls will fail to deliver mail to/from Hogwarts. Those that make it through will appear entirely bedraggled and somewhat singed.
All students and faculty are restricted to the castle indoors.
The above means that Herbology and Astronomy classes are temporarily put on hold, and that faculty that live in the village will nto be able to go home until further notice.
Quidditch tryouts are postponed.
DR&CMC employees may be threadded on-site.
If someone foolishly opens a window, it might allow a couple of the wee things inside...

A Dragon Update
Just a note that, thanks to the hard work of the Ministry, the dragon infestation at Hogwarts was finally cleared on Tuesday 20th September, at which point outdoor classes resumed and castle life could return to normal! While all dragons have theoretically been removed from the premises, you may still stumble upon one or two in hiding ;)
