The Biggest, Fluffiest, Nicest Quills
#17
"We'll sit at the front, if we arrive at the classroom in a timely manner," Odessa said. Her governess had instilled in her the importance of punctuality, so Odessa would likely make it to her classes at least ten minutes earlier. "Oh and we should get matching quills and anyone who wants to join us can get it too." She was now excited about this newly conceived idea of a 'secret' society. A club for the best witches in their year! Deep down, she also considered the fact that if she and Miss Rookwood made this quill pact, it would be less likely for her to be left on her own once they went to Hogwarts.

"How about this one?" she said, picking up an iridescent ice blue feather. Apart from being the girliest colour, blue was also her favourite.

'Naturally' she agreed. She couldn't wait until she got back home and would be able to tell Lou that they already had a new housemate - and she absolutely assumed that she and Lou were destined to be in the same house, how could they not be - and now they would have a new friend in Odessa. How wonderful would that be!

'What a brilliant idea' Honoria smiled, trying to hide the depth of her pleasure at her new friend and their wonderful new resolution to not only be friends, but to be their own little society - like the lady's societies that her mother was in, where the ladies had matching pretty pins or scarves to show they were all in the same club.

'Oh that one is so pretty!' Honoria agreed, 'That should absolutely be our secret quill.' she picked one off the shelf for herself beaming and running the soft feathers through her fingers. 'This is going to be so great! I'm so delighted to have met you Miss Pettigrew! I think we shall get along so well'

Odessa smiled, similarly happy to have made a friend whose friendship she'd bound with a quill. Items like these were like a contract of sorts that their friendship wouldn't so easily fall apart.

"Likewise, Miss Rookwood!" Odessa said and smiled herself.

Before leaving the store, Odessa made sure to stock up on enough 'secret' quills that she could start a small business if she wanted to. It would be so fun, for her and Honoria (the founders of their new society) to give out these quills to their new members!
