Now this, Fitz thought, ought to be entertaining!  Neither duelist had gotten where they are, professionally, by slacking off. The wizard moved briskly through the rules—both gentlemen were well ware of them by now—to get to the good bit.

Here was a more formidable opponent to be facing – albeit a man he was more familiar with than the last. Had his administrative role dulled Greyback's spellcasting skill? No more than Trystan's teaching position had his, he supposed; so this time, he supposed he actually ought to try.

Trystan began with a silent blasting curse, aimed carefully to hit the floor just in front Greyback's feet, to hopefully throw him backwards without further injury.

Fitz took no small amount of amusement in watching Selwyn deal with the effects of his own spell.

"Point Greyback," the wizard announced, "who will begin our next pass!"

That was good. He was pleased to have shown his metal was still sharp inspite of not being a practising auror for a few years.

Murdocks turn to cast first and he attempted to conjure a sarcophagus around his opponent trapping his opponent and his spell inside.

A second, a split-second, was the deciding factor in the duel, though Fitz himself was not astute enough to see it. No, all he saw was man become badger—a happenstance that he nodded to the nearby healer to deal with.

"The match to Selwyn," Fitz announced, not waiting for the un-badgering, "who will progress to the next round of competition! Well done to you both."

With no innate desire to become a badger himself, Fitz would have to be careful.
