Hogsmeade working mans club

this is perhaps something that could be added to the adult clubs roster?

Working mens clubs were (and are still) popular across the UK.

They were designed for working class men, as an alternative social venue to the pub - they would go and read the papers, play darts, bowels or other games and some even had classes and lectures. The classes could be general academic subjects like reading and math, and here maybe some basic magical skills for those who left Hogwarts early. They would also have talks/lectures on trade unions and political movements.

They would also organise events for working class men and their families.

They were run by committee who would be elected by the members. Membership fees were low, usually a nominal amount to cover the use of the hall to make them as open and accessible to as many working men as possible.

The clubs were designed for the 'honest' working classes, anyone in trade or who made an honest working living, the sort of rule of thumb being if you were employable you could join a WMC.

It might be a useful tool/venue for more working class events and activities on the board. I've noticed an influx of reputable WC characters who might benefit from having the WMC as something to get involved in.

Hogsmeade Hall is also freely available for people to gather for events... what does this give us that Hogsmeade Hall doesn't?

The organisers mostly - a bit like the Women's Institute being able to be used for organising MC ladies events, this would be a group that would organise panto trips, outings and tournaments for WC groups

We don't have many events for WC people, this would be a way to have organised events for the working classes that are not based on the charity of some UC person/group.

The current clubs exclude WC people on the basis of their entry fees, this would let the working class characters have pre-established relationships and post hogwarts friend groups that other groups have through Blacks etc.

The working mens club 'houses' were also designed so that working men who lived with their parents, or in boarding houses where they were not allowed to just hang out at home, had somewhere to go. They would have been a staple of English town life for the working classes, just the Gentlemans clubs would have been for the elites.

This just gives working class male characters what we already offer to UC characters.

Jack would totally join this.  I actually intentionally gave him an 8 rep for club purposes before realizing he wouldn't pay the dues associated with the ones available lol

I think this would offer the same thing the other clubs do, just to a demographic that doesn't currently have access.  Plus at one point we had a push for respectable working class in the census.  Unless that's no longer in the board's interest, it makes sense to support those characters.  Heck I could even offer Jack's NPC stepfather to be part of the committee.

Maybe they could use the hall as a meeting place to keep costs down (I don't know how clubs work actually do don't listen to me) Also this sounds like something the revs might be into?
