August 26th, 1891 - Hogsmeade Hospital Foyer

Tabi had just come off the night shift looking a little worse for wear. It wasn't exactly her favorite shift to work, but she hadn't complained as it had been fairly quiet, she was just exhausted from working a couple of them back-to-back for another healer who tended to prefer the shift, but was unable to work. She was sure she would need the favor repaid at some point or another.

With her small bag over her shoulder and bags under her eyes (not that anyone would notice them but her), she had smiled at the cheerful receptionist on her way out, wishing she had half as much energy at that particular moment. The day outside was bright through the large doors of the hospital and Tabi wondered if she wouldn't be better off apparating straight home, but she rather thought the walk might do her some good.

Steeling herself for the brightness, she hadn't quite made it to the door when it came bursting open, nearly knocking her over. Gasping audibly, she jumped back. "Is everything alright?" She managed to ask the person rushing in.

Garrett had gotten so used to working the night shift that his body had adjusted to his former schedule. He had been moved into day shifts recently though so he was running late by the time he had managed to fully wake up. And even then it was only because his roommate had been moving around their small flat.

He rushed through the doors and nearly knocked someone over. He wasn't much taller than her and he was whip-thin but still. He felt bad. "Are you all right, Miss Chevalier?" It was just his luck that the young woman was a coworker that often made him feel a little uncomfortable. For a reason he couldn't quite figure out as well. It was no fault of hers, he was certain though.

Thankfully it appeared that there was no emergency that she was in the way of and so she visibly relaxed at Mr. Cavey's question. "Yes fine thank you, I wasn't paying attention, just startled." She assured him with a small smile. "Long night, are you on your way in?" It was sometimes hard to tell with people coming and going at all hours in the hospital, whether it was hospital staff or patients.

Garrett was very glad that his coworker seemed to be fine. Her small smile felt weirdly like an accomplishment of some sort though he couldn't say why. "Yes. I was recently switched from graveyard shift to day shift. It's taking some getting used to," he said, not usually one to partake in conversation but there was something in him urging him to keep the woman in conversation. If only so he could gaze upon her for a little while longer.

Tabitha could sympathize, though she had gone the other way, it was quite the adjustment. "I switched myself recently, though it is just temporary, I must admit I am not used to the night shift." She wasn't a fan really. She preferred a somewhat normal sleep schedule, but she was too young and new to the profession to have any much of a say in her hours. Not that she would even dream of approaching Mr. Fisk to ask any differently either. Tabi just wanted to do her work and stay busy.

"Ah, so a very opposite dilemma yet the same," Garrett could not help but joke, finding mild amusement in the fact that their situations were flipped around. "I wonder how long it takes to get used to the odd hours our profession has." He had yet to get used it and from the sounds if it, it was much the same for Miss Chevalier.

Tabitha smiled softly at the parallel they were presented with. "I do suppose it takes a few weeks, as soon as I get used to it, they'll send me back to my regular shift, of that I'm sure. It's much quieter though, I will say that. I miss the bustle of the day work." The hospital was so much more lively during the day, honestly the quiet of the night was almost unsettling instead of peaceful.

"I like the quiet," Garrett mused with a smile. "But it can get a little creepy, especially when it gets too quiet." He was used to a constant sort of noise at night. In his neighborhood, there was always some sort of sound going on. People walking about late into the night, animals making noises. It was almost never truly quiet.

"I always feel like I'm a nuisance at night." Tabi admitted with a slight chuckle. "I feel poorly about every sound." She did not like to wake people up, even when it was necessary for their treatment. Even just making her way down the hall and her footsteps echoing on the stone floor. It made her even more self-conscious.

"I would hate for you to be late," Tabi realized as she remembered he was indeed on his way in and she was fighting the urge to yawn in her exhaustion. "I hope your shift goes smoothly." She was always careful to wish her coworkers a smooth shift, in hopes that things went well, but even if they didn't, they were at least solved. No jinxing it.

Garrett chuckled in response to Miss Chevaliers admittance. "It doesn't help that some of our long stay guests can get quite ornery." It was mostly the elderly who tended to feel they should just be sent home rather than kept until the thing that had brought them in was fully rectified.

"Oh yes. It was a pleasure speaking to you. I hope you enjoy your off time," Garrett said, realizing he was indeed going to possibly end up considered late to shift despite having been right at the entrance.
