Welcome to Charming, where swirling petticoats, the language of flowers, and old-fashioned duels are only the beginning of what is lying underneath…
After a magical attempt on her life in 1877, Queen Victoria launched a crusade against magic that, while tidied up by the Ministry of Magic, saw the Wizarding community exiled to Hogsmeade, previously little more than a crossroad near the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. In the years that have passed since, Hogsmeade has suffered plagues, fires, and Victorian hypocrisy but is still standing firm.
Thethe year is now 1895. It’s time to join us and immerse yourself in scandal and drama interlaced with magic both light and dark.

Citrine felt a little bad that she was a little biased during these tryouts but it could not be helped. Through no fault of their own, Higgs and Rookwood would need to try out for a new position when they had functioned so well having them as beaters. But she would still be fair and they would be judged by the same criteria as everyone else who had shown up. This was her second year as captain so she already had a fair idea of what to expect and what to look for.
"Good morning, everyone! Today we are looking for two new chasers. You will each fly through an obstacle course while trying to not fumble the quaffle. Your end goal will be to throw the Quaffle through the hoop located at the end of the obstacle course. And at the sound of my whistle, you may begin!"
And with that, she blew her whistle and bid for the tryouts to begin.
Please post once for each position you are trying out for. Make sure you have filled in the requisite form and have received a “like” from Kayte before posting! The deadline for all posts is 7pm EST on September 12th.
By posting in this thread, you agree to have your character present and whole regardless of what happens between the date of posting and the IC date listed.
Pissed as he was at the new rules, Justice was determined not to let it show. It was still his seventh year, his final year, and he'd rather waltz around the castle pretending not to care than let it affect his relationships.
Except on the quidditch pitch, apparently.
Justice arrived with his broomstick and immediately sought out Higgs, who'd also been displaced by the bludger ban. He needn't not tell Weasley, because he was certain she already knew: if they didn't earn those two chaser spots, he was going to be pissed. After listening to her explain the rules, he grabbed a quaffle, mounted his broomstick, and took to the skies to perform the tasks.

Every year, the same dormmate goaded him until he agreed to try out for the team. Archer still wasn't sure if it was because the boy wished to see him fail, or if he was trying to be helpful. Either way, he had caved.
Archer quietly listened to the instructions, snagged a quaffle and kicked off from the ground. His flying had certainly improved from participating in flying club last year, but that was a solitary sport. He had joined the club because he could simultaneously be in a social situation, but not necessarily have to be social. Quidditch was a team sport, and that sent his anxiety for a loop.
While he actually completed the obstacle course this year, Archer was still a bit wobbly due to nerves. This was not his forte.
Just his luck, wasn’t it? To have finally made it onto the team last year and then, at the start of this one, found his position had been banned! It had been grand to play at the Sanditon in summer, but maybe it’d be back to Flying Club for him now. (He wondered whether they’d get in trouble for letting bludgers loose there.)
If there had only been one chaser position up for grabs, well - Nelson glanced at his teammate - it’d be Rookwood’s in a heartbeat. But since there were fortunately two, it was definitely worth trying. It hadn’t been Miss Weasley’s fault, after all, and he had no intention of bailing. Quidditch was quidditch all the same.
After last year with a bat in hand, flying with a quaffle under his arm was definitely weird.
Bertie had been like a squirrel with coffee all morning. Anxious to get on the field and at least try to see if he could make it on the team. Would he get in? Honestly, he wasn't sure if he cared. Just wanted to try, and have fun trying. Playing the game would be great, but it was feeling good about what you did that mattered, right?
It was a miracle that Bertie even caught on to what the captain was saying, as he imagined flying though the air. The whistle blew and he was off.
It had been a miracle that Alina had convinced her parents to let her try out. Quidditch wasn't going to get her higher grades, or a better chance at succeeding in life. But it was supposed to be fun. Alina was still young. Couldn't she at least have some of that?
There she was, at tryouts. And this young Ravenclaw was prepared to give this everything she's got. Instructions were clear, and then they were off.
