WEREWOLF ATTACK IN LONDON
SIX DEAD IN PREVENTABLE TRAGEDY

Six people—two of them muggles!—are dead after a vicious werewolf attack in London on Sunday night. The incident took place in Hyde Park shortly after nine o’clock. The werewolf in question has been identified as Ciaran Byrne, formerly of Dublin; he was apprehended that same evening, and remains still in custody.

Mr. Byrne was later charged with Failure to Report Lycanthropy, six counts of Second Degree Murder, one count of Transmission of Lycanthropy, and one count of Failure to Uphold the International Statute of Secrecy.

Nine year old Harold Bunting is the sole survivor of the attack; his carriage was ransacked, driver and mother killed, and he himself maimed. Young Master Bunting remains in the care of St Mungo’s Hospital, where sources inform this paper that he will turn with the rising of August’s full moon.

Of the confirmed fatalities, only the identity of Mr. Francis Lancing, 28, of Hogsmeade has been confirmed. Mr. Lancing, a solicitor, was reportedly stranded in London when the fog began to ensconce the village. We expect more names to be released in the coming days.

The attacks have renewed the public fervor against werewolves. Though many are incarcerated at Ministry of Magic facilities each month, rendering them harmless to the population, countless more evade detection, making them an ever-present danger to society. Advocates for the Prevention of Full Moon Deaths are calling out once again for screening processes to ensure all werewolves are discovered and appropriately handled. Their rallying cry has not called out so loudly, nor resonated so strongly, since the attack of Miss Topaz Urquart last year.

As always, those aware of werewolves in our midst are reminded that keeping such a secret is considered a criminal offence, and that reporting these individuals to the appropriate authorities is in the best interests of all parties involved.
