Macnair,

Come to the attached address as soon as you receive this letter.

It is a matter of honor so if you have a single shred of it, prove it by showing up.

If you are entirely without honor as I suspect you are, then perhaps you might at least prove that you're not a coward.

Macmillan,

You're bold to speak to of honor after what you've done. Did the duel mean nothing to you, or did the bullet wreck you so terribly that you were so quickly about to forget the agreement we made? You agreed to cease your pursuit of my cousin in the event you lost, and yet she comes to me with news that you've asked her to be your wife.

I hope your love for her makes the misery worth it.

Macnair,

You were the first to cast honor aside or have you forgotten?

Anyway, you can get off your high horse and face me like a man, you coward! If I have to seek you out instead I will.

Macmillan,

If there was a question of my honor it was put to rest the moment we drew our pistols. Now your honor—that is another question.

I have no idea what could possibly be so dire that it requires my immediate presence, and why it would make me a coward to stay at home. Did we not see each other just this morning? I see my own friends less than that.

Macnair,

Your honor was put to rest the moment you cheated!

If you're going to denigrate yourself further by being a coward then you leave me no choice.

Where are you?

Macmillan,

If the matter of my honor was not settled, I have no idea why you were so eager to have a pistol drawn in your direction. Clearly I should have put another bullet in you: the first to defend my honor, and the second to shut you up about it.

Good day,

V. Macnair

Macnair,

I take it you're at home. Very well. I'd hoped you'd see sense and meet here, privately, but I see there's no hope for you.

If I don't hear back from you in a timely manner then I will be showing up at your house and you will wish that you'd met me here instead.

Macmillan,

I've got a glass of my new Jewell's whiskey in one hand and I'm nearly at the end of my book. I won't go out of the way to inconvenience myself without knowing what I've done to anger you. I promise my day has been far more uneventful than yours apparently has. I don't like guessing games.

Macnair,

You cheated, did I not make it clear enough or are you an imbecile as well as an ignoble bastard?

I won't let you get away with it!

Macmillan,

I've no idea what you're talking about. Care to elaborate?

Macnair,

I'll elaborate to your wretched face.

This is your last chance to make the right choice and come here.

I mean it, if you don't oblige me... I'll meet you outside your house by some trees.

Macmillan,

We have plenty of trees. How ever would I know which ones to meet you by?

I don't bloody know what your trees look like! Look for the wand light you utter moron!

I'm leaving now.
