Mind to Marry

Dear Of a Mind To Marry,

I am a young man of a good family and of a age to be married. I have not yet met a young lady that has induced me to consider the prospect. That being said your letter speaks to a disposition that seems similar to my own and I should very much like to get to know you better.

Might I enquire as to why your preference runs to smaller social gatherings than grand affairs? Is your family a small one?

Kind Regards

Marriagable Man

Dear MM,

Thank you for your letter. I appreciate that this is quite an unconventional method of making an acquaintance and am quite happy to hear my advertisement inspired you to try it.

My family is neither particularly large or small, but we each value our personal lives. My household was more likely to spend nights at home each devoted to our own pursuits than engaging in group revelry, and I believe my position as the youngest in the family (with some significant difference in age between myself and my siblings) has made me especially fond of quiet nights.

I do not mean to imply, however, that I intend to neglect the typical duties of a married women as pertains to hosting and entertaining; only that my ideal life (and therefore my ideal spouse) recognizes the value of more solitary pursuits as well. To that end, perhaps you might tell me the sorts of things you enjoy doing with your free time?

Sincerely,
- Miss C -

Miss C,
I understand that. I am an eldest born son, and heir to my father and grandfathers fortunes and business so I am acutely aware of the social expectations required of me in this position - and of any wife I would add to this family. However, I am by nature of a generally quieter and more solitary disposition and appreciate the pleasure's of quiet family gatherings and time simply spent in ones own company.

Given that it would be inappropriate for you to make the acquaintance of a gentleman without some lady or other to act as intermediary. To that end might I suggest you might meet my mother for tea, perhaps with some chaperone or guardian. There could be no indication of impropriety in that. Might this be something which would interest you?

Kind Regards
Mr. Z.

Oh! She had hardly expected anyone to be asking to meet her so soon. She read the letter thrice over to be sure she'd understood correctly. It could only be a good sign, couldn't it? He hadn't answered her question about his hobbies, but she supposed really that was immaterial. Her advertisement had said she was of a mind to marry quickly, and he seemed to be similarly inclined. Who did she know who might be a Mr. Z?

Dear Mr. Z,

This seems perfectly agreeable. Would it be convenient for your mother to meet in Hogsmeade? There are several pleasant tea shops here, though I could also travel to London.

Sincerely,
- Miss C -

Excellent, I appreciate you being so amenable. My mother will be in the Rutledge Hotel in Muggle London tomorrow at 3:30 if that time suits you? If it doesn't please let me know a time that would suit better.

Kind Regards
Mister Z.
