Welcome to Charming, where swirling petticoats, the language of flowers, and old-fashioned duels are only the beginning of what is lying underneath…
After a magical attempt on her life in 1877, Queen Victoria launched a crusade against magic that, while tidied up by the Ministry of Magic, saw the Wizarding community exiled to Hogsmeade, previously little more than a crossroad near the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. In the years that have passed since, Hogsmeade has suffered plagues, fires, and Victorian hypocrisy but is still standing firm.
Thethe year is now 1895. It’s time to join us and immerse yourself in scandal and drama interlaced with magic both light and dark.

Did You Know?
Did you know? Jewelry of jet was the haute jewelry of the Victorian era. — Fallin

I should probably introduce myself
Mireille wasn't sure this was such a good idea. Drinking and using magic probably hadn't been smart, but announcing to one of her boyfriend's siblings that they were dating was probably the worst idea she'd had in a year. It probably topped her making small talk with a murderer and getting her wand taken away from her father. She still wasn't sure that was aloud.
Romaing around, drunk and in animagus form, was something that would likely get back to her father and she'd be thrown in Azkaban for breaking the law. And that didn't include the fact she'd probably get disowned because of it.
She was probably going to get disowned anyway, but she didn't fancy herself a caught felon.
She hadn't yet transformed back into a human when her paws knocked on the door to Mrs. Beck's house. She wasn't even sure what she planned on saying.
The few staff that her family had was busy cooking and cleaning as Earth worked on her writing in the parlor. Never one to settle on writing in just one spot of the house, she could have been in the greenhouse if she pleased.
So when there was a scratching at the door, it peaked her curiosity enough to call out that she would get it, finish her thought on her notes as quickly as she could, and briskly heading for the door.
A smile was bright on her face, her typical feature. So whomever was at the door would see a friendly face to greet them. But when she did open the door, her gaze went from her eye level to downward as she suspected perhaps a child had knocked. But nope. It was a... fancy cat?
Mire was waiting for an invitation in before she transformed back into a human. While She could've done it anywhere, she really didn't want to risk anymore people finding out what she was.
She'd heard Mrs. Beck was rather open. Actually, she was sure any of Sun's family was open considering their names and that one of their females wore men's clothing.
She tilted her head as if asking the blonde woman to invite her inside.
Truely, Mire was pleased that she didn't have to wait outside anylonger. If she had, she wasn't sure she woudld had been well enough to do what she wanted. She was already starting to feel the ill ifects of alchocal.
She took the small opening that the blonde made and ignored the confused sound. She turned and waited for the woman to close the door behind her before changing into a human.
"Hello." It was all that she could think of saying to the woman who was probably very shocked to see a human in place of the animal she'd let in. Unless she wasn't. Then this family had more secrets than her own.
Still, she probably should say more than just 'hello'.
"I do not know how to say this, so I am just going to." she took a breath. "I am courting your eldest brother."
Of course Earth didn't realize she was letting a woman into her home. Nor did she know that said woman was drunk. All she knew was that a creature decided that it had wanted to come into her home.
Closing the door, she then turned around to witness the creature transform into a woman. An animagus! How fascinating! What a marvelous talent!
"Well, um, hello? And you might you be?" She asked, still in a state of shock. This was, after all, highly unusual. Not that Earth minded the unusual. Rather open to it, actually. But surprises were still surprising.
The statement made Earth let out another shocked noise. "Oh? Sun? He hasn't mentioned such a thing to me. Really? How odd. I would have thought he would come to me with such news. Well, how nice for the two of you." She said as her train of thought went from confused to sun-shiny brightness as she spoke.
"I am terribly sorry. I should have started with my name. I am Mireille Lécuyer." Mire mentally kicked herself for forgetting such basic mannors. She'd gotten the hard things out of the way. Well, most of them. She assumed telling such a secret wasn't anything small. She blushed at the woman's words. Yes, Sun probably would have told her if he'd thought she could keep a secert.
Which made this all the more of a bad idea. What if he hadn't told his Mrs. Beck because he didn't think she could keep such a thing from coming up during casual conversation? 'Oh, yes, Sun is going to be married soon.' or however that conversation would come up.
"I'm sure he would've told you himself but... my family wouldn't approve of him." Or any of them, really. Half blooded and middle class. She inwardly cringed. She wasn't so sure she really wanted to go down this path, but she wasn't going to change her mind now.
The purist side of her - and yes, some of her was purist. It was enebidle, gowing up in the household she did.- groaned at the word 'half-blood', even in thought.
Earth could keep a secret. She kept Mars's secret just fine. She not many other secrets were in their family. The secret of magic was a given. That was about it. "Earth Beck. Nice to meet you."
Sometimes she did wonder if her family kept things from her. Perhaps they thought her too chipper? Too naive.
She was a Ravenclaw, so she couldn't be that naive. It wasn't like she had gone and told her friends about Mars's interests at tea time.
Oh, it was the 'odd' title that their family held, wasn't it? Plenty of people thought their family odd. "I'm sure they would come around, given time. But I understand. Tea?"
Mire was surprised that Mrs. Beck didn't ask questions about her family. She knew that not many cared about what another's blood status was besides upper class purebloods. Some middle class, and a few working class, possibly cared but... It had never accured to her that many didn't care.
She almost laughed in the blonde's face at the comment that perhaps her family would come around. Odette? Naeva? Liking half-bloods? She'd think the world was ending if that ever happened. Even her father wouldn't be on her side in this. No, she'd be alone. She was sure even Sun's family would grow to dislike her after some time.
It didn't matter that Sun had younger twin sisters, she was still a twin. And a very unlucky one at that.
"I..." she forced herself to respond to Mrs. Beck's words. "I would love some tea, thank you."
Earth didn'tcare about blood purity. That was the Lord's business, and His alone. People making a fuss in these regards were only bringing sin upon themselves. Just follow the word of the good book, was how Earth felt they should do.
Obviously their mental tracks were different as to what Miss Lécuyer's family was coming around to, but Mrs. Beck still would not have understood any laughter brought on by her statement.
There were not many people that Earth genuinely disliked. And she did try to spread - mostly platonic and familial - love to those around her. Given time, hopefully that love would be felt by Miss Lécuyer. "Excellent. Come with me." She said pleasantly.
