Mission to Africa Announced
Church to Fund Evangelism Trip
The Church of Saint Fergus, located in Irvingly and serving both the magical and Muggle community, will partner with the Hogsmeade chapter of the magical church on a mission trip this summer.
The trip has been in the planning stages for several weeks, but was only announced to the general congregation this past Sunday. According to Mr. Dursley, the minister of the Church of Saint Fergus, the church was unable to fully commit until a patron — who, in the spirit of the Christian values of humility and charity, chose to remain anonymous to all but the upper leadership of the church — came forward to provide the necessary funding last week.
The two-week excursion will arrive via boat at a port in the delta of the Niger River. This area has a strong British colonial presence already, and so is considered relatively safe; a representative of the church stated that they hoped women would feel empowered to join the journey "should they feel so called," and even children not yet of legal age are permitted with an appropriate guardian. In addition to bringing an evangelical message, missionaries will also bring Muggle sanitation tools in an attempt to better the lives of the native population.
The mission trip will depart London on July 1st, intending to arrive at the Niger River three days later. The excursion will begin their return journey on July 18th and should be back in London by July 22nd. J. Alfred Darrow, of explorer fame, will captain the Voyager for the journey.
