Appearance:
Charles is rather an ordinary man, standing at five feet and seven inches, his dark hair long since turned to grey. His eyes are a similar shade. Charles dresses practically but well, as he is quite fond of the status to which he has risen and does not wish to be mistaken as less than he is. 1818 | Faith is born.
1825 | Charles’ first act of magic sees him heal a scrape he got exploring somewhere he was not meant to be.
1828 | Charles departs for Hogwarts, and is sorted into Slytherin with little ado.
1830 | Now in his third year, he adds Care of Magical Creatures and Muggle Studies to his course roster, deeming them to be the most sensible of the elective courses.
1832 | He swells with pride as his supply list is accompanied by a prefect’s badge for the coming school year.
1835 | Charles completes his schooling with excellent grades, and decides to pursue a Magical Bugs internship at St Mungo’s.
1836 | His first internship complete, Charles decides to take another, spending the next year in the Spell Damage ward.
1837 | By now, Charles has decided he has to catch ‘em all, and he moves on to a Potion and Plant Poisoning internship.
1838 | He begins his Creature-Induced Injuries internship.
1839 | He begins his Artefact Incidents internship.
1840 | At twenty-three years old and with his fifth and final healing internship behind him, Charles decides to commit fully to Creature-Induced Injuries, having found that to be his greatest affinity. He is still very proud of his accomplishments though, and feels that having so many different experiences under his belt will make him a much better healer overall.
1848 | His first foray to a Hogwarts debut since his own graduation, he meets and is immediately quite taken with a Miss Cassandra Vablatsky. The two begin courting shortly thereafter.
1849 | An ecstatic Charles ties the knot. A doting husband from day one, he encourages her to continue pursuing her passion for jewelry making, though is rather apprehensive about how it might look to the outside world. As such, he is privately very pleased indeed when Cassandra chooses to do so under a pseudonym.
1852 | When Cassandra fails to fall pregnant after three years of marriage, Charles begins to worry that there might be something wrong with him or her—or worse still, both! Using his connections to the medical world, the pair seek out magical means of achieving this particular milestone. By the year’s end, Cassandra is with child at last.
1853 | Their first child is finally born, and Charles could not be more pleased! Always rather superstitious—he cannot blame her, given the family she hails from—Cassandra insists upon seeking the advice of a naming seer, and the boy is called Lupus Charles Jameshill. At his wife’s insistence, the babe’s budding manhood is cut in some bizarre Jewish ritual, but given that she had years to prepare him for it, he is long over the shock.
1855 | With two decades as a healer under his belt, he is finally given the recognition he feels he deserves and is promoted to Assistant Head of his department.
1861 | Once again magic and medicine must intervene where nature fails, but the couple welcome a healthy baby girl. After a visit to the seer, she is called Amity Ruth Jameshill. Charles receives a few strong words from his Grandmother-in-Law that she is not called Cassandra, and he promptly shifts the blame to his wife because that woman scares him.
1865 | Lupus departs for Hogwarts, and is sorted into Gryffindor, shocking approximately no one.
1866 | Cassandra delivers a third child in the same method as his siblings. Barnabas Theodoric Jameshill is named by the seer, and Charles decides it’s the most normal name of the three.
1868 | Charles is promoted to Healer-in-Charge of Creature-Induced Injuries just before Christmas.
1869 | His father dies peacefully the day before his one-hundredth birthday. As the only son, Charles inherits more or less everything, and this sad windfall coupled with his recent promotion allows the Jameshills to move into a more affluent lifestyle, though still the hands of the middle class world cling to them.
1872 | Lupus graduates with impressive NEWTs, and it is with pride that Charles sees his son begin the Auror Training Program that autumn. Amity departs for Hogwarts and is sorted into Hufflepuff.
1873 | Reckless, reckless boy! A shaken Lupus comes into his study and reveals he’s been bitten by a werewolf! Charles patches him up the best he can without taking him to hospital and risking detection, but this puts a fly in all of the ointment that ever there was. The family’s status, Amity’s marital prospects, and Lou’s own prospects now hang in the balance—and Cassandra blames herself, taking a great deal of consoling. His decision comes swiftly and definitively: Lupus Jameshill was absolutely not bitten by a werewolf, and all was normal except for their new country home with a reinforced basement. Nothing suspicious there at all.
1877 | Barnabas goes to Hogwarts and is predictably sorted into Gryffindor.
1879 | Amity completes her schooling and makes her debut into society, both at the Hogwarts ‘do and at a small private debut because Charles is a bit of a new-money show-off.
1880 | When his predecessor retires, Charles is happily promoted to the Director of the hospital. Ever the promoter of things appearing completely 100% normal, Charles encourages Lou to seal the deal with Miss Fisk—a nice enough girl, he supposes—and is quite pleased to see the two engaged before the year is out.
1881 | Things take a turn for the worst when Xena discovers Lou’s secret. Worse still, Charles finds out about the now-broken engagement through the rumour mill before his son reveals it! Unable to smooth things over with the Fisks, and unwilling to take the social hit, Charles acts rashly, but with a great deal of consideration, and decides that it would be best if his son ‘died’. The Fisks agree.
1882 | Amity marries in what Charles sees as a very good match—he would not have relinquished her otherwise.
1885 | Barnabas follows in his brother’s footsteps and joins the Auror Training Program this year—Charles hopes that will be the end of the similarities between his two sons.
1887 | Lupus returns to the forefront of Charles' struggles. Joy. Things come to a head when his foolish son nearly turns himself into the Ministry. Ultimately, an Unbreakable Vow is employed to ensure Lupus never again attempts something so disastrous.
