Mr. Keene,

I understand that the troubles that plague Irvingly have extended to a portion of Hogsmeade. I also know that Hogmseade Hospital's Magical Bugs ward is currently playing host to the carnival workers from the Summer Solstice Festival, filling more beds than is typical for this time of year. Please know that if there are any concerns about maintaining the health or well-being of your patients, St Mungo's is at the ready to accept anyone you might deem necessary to transfer.

With regards,

It seems that we'll have another busy summer on our hands. I wonder if we'll have a normal on during my tenure in this new position. I appreciate your reaching out however, as of right now I am unsure as to what we need, though the carnival workers are eating up quite a bit of space. They should be out soon however. I could use a few more hands if you can spare any from your Bugs department or elsewhere, just to cover emergency services. If anything changes I will let you know.

Mr. Keene,

I have sent you Miss Nathalie Jennings and an intern of her choosing on this morning's train, along with some of our surplus potions; it is altogether possible that she might arrive before my letter. She is yours until the carnival workers depart; if you need to keep her longer, please advise. Miss Jennings is an excellent worker, though, so I should be very put out if you kept her indefinitely.

Miss Jennings and her intern have proven to be invaluable in our current situation; you may not get her back.

I write  for another matter entirely, however. I have been approached by a young woman with muggle nursing skills offering her assistance as well. Do you think it would be prudent to hire her until the fog clears? I find the idea intriguing and possibly quite brilliant, at least for emergency services, if nothing else.

There is a small catch, as the woman offering is a vampire . Though I know she has the best intentions, the concerns are obvious; however I cannot ignore capable hands when I find them, it is quite the conundrum.

Mr. Keene,

I am pleased to learn that Miss Jennings has proven herself to be a credit, though not at all surprised. Given the change of circumstance in Hogsmeade, I suspect I could not have her back even if I wished it—but of course, the fog's dissipation will make for an entirely different set of circumstances, and we shall see who has the last laugh then.

In terms of your dilemma—my first instinct is to take any help offered. You are in a situation that neither you nor I have any experience in, and we must use the tools at our disposal to give our patients the care they require; this is and has always been our utmost duty as healers. However, I confess that I have long been rather conservative, and so I cannot shake my concern over the involvement of a vampire in a position of care over the vulnerable.

Your conscience will be your best guide in this instance, but some food for thought:

You will have many patients who know her for what she is, and refuse her care. In a time of great strife, the citizens of Hogsmeade need to see the hospital as a place of healing and trust, not of danger. If you do choose to bring her into your employ, however temporarily, you must mitigate these issues to the best of your ability. Moreover, I would encourage you to unilaterally deny her access to patients in complete privacy.

I hope I have provided you some aid, and not merely muddied the waters further.

With regards,

C. Jameshill

On the contrary, your words of wisdom have given me quite a bit to think about and a better idea of how to handle the situation. I acknowledge that her skills would be invaluable in at this time, but that her presence may not be overwhelmingly appreciated.

I've discussed the matter with a few of my healers-in-charge and am awaiting some input from somebody who knows the woman in question personally, I believe that will be the deciding factor in whether or not to push forward.

I appreciate your assistance in the matter and will keep you updated.

Mr. Keene,

I am certain that whichever decision you make will be the right one for the hospital, especially under these difficult circumstances. Please let me know if there is anything more that I and St Mungo's can do to be of assistance.

Mr. Keene,

I thank you for your swift return of Miss Jennings. I know it cannot have been easy—I might have been tempted to try to lure her to stay on, had I been in your shoes! I hope everything has returned to normalcy in the wake of the fog; do let me know if there is anything I might do to help expedite matters if that is not the case.
