Still Here, Eh? [NEWT Level Charms]
#17
The professor's quite admonition about being late had Lydia flushing but no one seemed to either notice or care. She actually cared about this class, it was probably her favorite (tied with Care of Magical Creatures of course) so to get called out was quite embarrassing. That's what she got for trying to get extra credit in another class.

And then her attempt at the charm failed. Not even a droplet of water came from her wand. Even more embarrassing, though it didn't seem that others were having much luck either. Picking up her wand from where she'd dejectedly dropped it on the table in front of her, Lydia glanced sideways at Somersby and then up at the professor. "Aquamenti!" Hopefully that would work.

Frustrated Somersby gave it one last try. He normally could manage such tasks as this and his frustration was almost palpable as he waved his wand with the incantation yet another time, ignoring Professor Ruksin's reminder to another student not to be too forceful. "Aquamenti!" He ground out.

Lydia Lockhart's latest attempt caused nothing to happen while beside her Somersby Fudge's spell shoot shards of shattered ice around the room. Ellsworth sighed. "I believe you all shall be diligent in your homework this evening as I require practice from each and every one of you. I shall expect a passable aquamenti charm at tomorrow's class. Dismissed." He stared sternly at them as they trooped out of the room. Hopefully something would come from such a dismal beginning of the semester, he thought.
