ACAB* | ANY REP* | BALL

What: The Shapeshifters Ball
Who: The Society for the Transfiguration Arts (sure, that's a thing) is hosting their first (annual?) Shapeshifters Ball. Invited are all registered animagi in Britain, regardless of class and reputation. Invitees are also able to bring a +1
Cost:
Where: Hawthorne Hollow, Irvingly Area
Why: Promote Advanced Transfiguration
When: Friday, July 7th

Registered animagi of Britain have been invited to this exclusive affair! Large white pavilion tents have been set up in a clearing in the hollow, with small cobbled walkways connecting them. There is of course one for dancing, as well as the usual men's and ladies' retiring areas, but there is also one called the gallery in which guests are encouraged to show off their transfiguration skills. Invited guests should don attire that is, in some capacity, a nod to their animagus form. +1s have been instructed to wear white.

UCAB/MACB* | REP 7+ | AFTERNOON TEA

What: Tea & Tarot
Who: Hosted by "Augusta King" (read: Eudora) for all UC debutantes and any MC debs who debuted this year; and their female chaperones (usually mother, married sister, etc.) .
Cost:
Where: The Orchard, a rather grand name for Augusta King's house in Wellingtonshire. Yeah, it has maybe three fruit trees in the garden.
Why: Why NOT?
When: The afternoon of July 1st

The young ladies of society have been invited to an afternoon tea! There will be all the usual snacks and beverages BUT with the added bonus of Dora doing tarot readings!

Unfortunately, Aunt Augusta has sprung upon her @ the last minute that she kindly bought Dora a new deck of cards (she's never liked that one of Dora's resembles her...), which Dora dares not ignore. Double unfortunately, these cards are vaguely jinxed: for better or for worse, your character will embody one of the cards in their spread for up to a fortnight afterwards.

ACAB | REP ANY | INTERACTIVE THEATER

What: Alice's Adventures in Wonderland Staged Reading
Who: Flourish & Blott's hosting for any child/teen with the means to travel to London.
Cost: No; copies of the Lewis Carroll novels will be slightly discounted for anyone who participates.
Where: Flourish & Blott's, Diagon Alley, London
Why: Hopefully inspiring a lifelong love of literature in the youths
When: July 6th

Anyone under the age of seventeen is invited to participate in a staged reading of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Since it cannot be assumed that all participants know how to read, this is largely improvised: each scene begins with Ned giving the audience of children a brief overview of the characters involved and what is meant to happen in the scene, children volunteer for the different roles, and they act it out however they see fit. To add extra pizzazz, Alasdair Greyback will be waiting at the edge of the 'stage' and casting illusions to complement the action. Note that the 'stage' is actually just a cleared area in the bookshop which is occasionally used for book signings and things, not an actual theater of any kind. There will also be complimentary popcorn, because why not?

ACAB | ANY REP | SUMMER GAME

What: Wizards/Witches vs Inferi: A Hogwarts Summer Game
Who: All current students may participate
Cost: Free for all students, incoming First Years and dropouts must acquire legitimate equipment themselves.
Where: Hogsmeade or Magical London. See also: Safe Zones below.
Why: Summer is boring without a little fun and/or mischief.
When: June 1 - September 1, 1893 (excepting Tu/Th)

(For those not familiar with the real world game, see Humans vs Zombie)

Before leaving Hogwarts, your student was offered an enchanted, white band of cloth as a means to participate in WvI. If displayed as an armband/headband/etc, it means that they are playing and if white, it means that they are still alive and can be 'killed' by the Inferi. Inferi are a select-but-growing group of students whose winning goal is to 'kill' the live Wizards and Witches in the game, by use of the Finite or General Counter-Spell. Your student is very welcome to want to start out as the Inferi, too, or be one by the time you first write them playing!

(Over the course of the summer, however, students have established the real way to 'kill' their victims, with dueling spells like Petrificus Totalus and Expelliarmus.)

Technically the game is only for of-age students between sixth and seventh years, but in practice all underage students can join in. Even underage dropouts who manage to acquire the enchanted status bands somehow are able to participate. Of course, the adults are not to know about this, at least until the savvy/cool ones learn about it. And for those unwitting victims of a stray spell or mischievous Inferi player, it's all in good fun!

Safe zones are designated as all indoors locations, except the Hogsmeade Hall and High-Street Ballroom. Also, Tuesdays and Thursdays are generally marked as safe days, to allow for Market visits without adult awareness. However, there's no defensive charms to prevent the status band from being attacked in a safe zone, just peer pressure.

Any participating student who returns to Hogwarts in the fall with a still-white band wins a prize. And if all returning students have black bands (or missing, losing your band qualifies as being 'killed') then the Inferi win. A dozen chocolate galleons to each Witch or Wizard winners, or one to each Inferi if they win.

And may the odds be ever in your favor!

UCAB* | REP 7+ | BALL

What: Malfoy's Celestial Ball
Who: The upper echelon of wizarding society
Cost: Nah, invite only
Where: The Malfoy's London Manor
Why: T'is the Season
When: July 29th, 1893

*Probably snobby enough to restrict to UCPB/UCHB, but nobody is going to kick you out if you're UCMB. MCPBs that are in good standing with any of the Malfoys also welcome! If you're not sure, just ask!

Listen, I just wanted it, alright. Inspiration here, come dressed as your favorite celestial muse/constellation/etc and enjoy an evening in which the Malfoy's garden has been turned into the a down-to-Earth version of the galaxy, complete with stars, planets, moons et all. There will be themed refreshments and decorations, including a giant telescope as the centerpiece to be used for stargazing, complete with constellation maps and charts!

U/MCAB | REP 5+ | BALL

What: Celebration of Newtonian Physics
Who: NPC eccentric female scientist / science enthusiast for any interested members of society. Invitations were sent particularly to Flint scholars, academics, Ministry researchers, nonfiction authors, and librarians — if your character falls into one of those categories but is WC they can still come!
Cost: Nope.
Where: Wellingtonshire
Why: staging ground for some silly threads
When: 5 July 1893

On July 5th, 1687, Isaac Newton published Philosophiæ Naturalis Principia Mathematica, in which he discussed (among other things) his three laws of motion. To celebrate the anniversary of this seminal work of Muggle science and to bring more awareness of science to the magical community generally, Mrs. Laswich is hosting a ball in her magically-expanded-for-the-evening Wellingtonshire home. Along the walls of the ballroom are a series of wire tracks, wheels, pulleys, etc which are transporting gleaming silver marbles (think these) to demonstrate physics in action. There's a little charmwork applied to the dance floor to help couples glide along more smoothly — an object in motion stays in motion, after all. In one corner of the ballroom there is a "gravity ball" — a charmed object which increases the gravitational pull in about a six-foot sphere around it — which guests can interact with as a curiosity. Near the end of the evening, a few pranksters will send the gravity ball rolling across the ballroom, causing some minor havoc for those unsuspecting in its path.

Cost: Just the cost of your accommodations, if needed.

When: July 20th - 21st

DAY 1 | Attendees will arrive in time for a buffet luncheon, where they will spend the afternoon in three sessions: The Benefits of Sea Bathing, Advances in Healing Potions, and Recent Improvements in the Understanding of Human Anatomy. Following this, there will be dinner, drinks, and cards for those who wish to partake.

DAY 2 | Three more sessions throughout the day: Maternal Medicine (most healers will probably skip this one), A New Method for Spell Identification, and Magical Theory for the Heling Arts. Most excitingly, though, there will be a ball that evening for all attendees and up to +3!

UCAB | REP 5+ | TEA PARTY

What: Dreamy Tea Party
Who: Hosted by Lowri Dempsey officially but planned by Shalott Dempsey
For those known in upper society and literary types, if you are upper middle class feel free to hop in.
Cost: N/A
Where: The Dempsey's gardens at their home near Galway, Ireland.
Why: Because Fallin is torturing Lottie by making her be a lady instead of writing.
When: July 10, 1893

It started out as a tea party in the gardens, but then became a whole things thanks to the input of her family. The theme is loosely fairy tales and Lottie is wandering around barefoot and in a gown inspired by a fairy. There will be literary readings that happen impromptu throughout the event. A small band has been hired to fiddle folk songs because Lottie feels this fits the theme. There are lots and lots of flowers around and she has decorated it to look like a fairy queen's bower.

Someone will have charmed the tea (likely as a prank) to befuddle the drinker.

ACAB | INVITATION ONLY | FUNERAL/SLEEPOVER

What: A sleepover to comfort each other
Who: Laurel Potts is hosting on behalf of Calla Potts
Invitation List:
Alcyone Slughorn
Alice Dawson
Madeline Bell
Sisse Thompsett
[If I'm missing anyone let me know]

Potts sisters feel free to pop in:
@"Zinnia Potts"
Thistle Potts
@"Daffodil Potts"
@"Dahlia Potts"
Cost: No
Where: The Potts home in Bartonburg, Hogsmeade
Why: Sisse didn't want to be alone when mourning and wanted to have all the GryffinGroup girls together, when Mrs Potts heard this she opened her home to all the girls (as there are no teenage boys on the premises).
When: July 9 following the funeral for Sloane Bixby

The girls will be sleeping in Calla's room and Dahlia will spend the night with Zinnia. There will be a dinner served for the guests but Mrs Potts has an open door policy so if any family members come by for dinner, or other friends, she won't turn them again (Millie Potts, Jack Dorset, etc.). Dahlia has baked as many goods as she can, asking Calla for what each girl's favorite is and trying to make sure they have it. There will be tea and Mr. Honeyduke's hot chocolate and Quin has kindly provided the girls with treats from his shop. Laurel has also made bouquets and filled the room with it to try and comfort them (flowers includes: asphodels, azalaes, carnations, chamomile, chrysanthmums, cypress, for-get-me-nots, gladioluses, hawthorn, lillies of the valley, marigolds, mint, pansies, poppies, snowdrops, willow, yarrow, rue, olive, mistletoe, oak, rosemary, zinnia, lillies, bluebells, camellias, eucalyptus, heather, honeysuckle, queen anne's lace, and edelweiss).

ACAB | ANY REP | PUBLIC PICNIC

What: The Sanditon Picnic

Originally slated as the Padmore Picnic, the organizers hastily relocated the event following the tragic death of Sloane Bixby. The Sanditon, while less convenient to get to, boasts weather charms so sudden storm death will be unlikely.

Who: Some charity or another has orchestrated this PUBLIC event.
Cost: You'll have to buy a basket (serves 6). These are tiered for The Richest, Firmly UC, Upper-MC, Generic MC, and Comfortable WC. If you can't afford a six-person meal or are just alone, you will be assigned a table with five other people of similar "rank" for a fraction of the cost.
Where: Sanditon Resort
Why: Ostensibly, "The Poor"
When: Sunday, July 16th; Afternoon
Tables and picnic blankets have been lined up along the beach, where good weather is a literal guarantee. In addition, guests may partake in sea bathing, tennis, badminton, lawn bowls, etc on various courts erected for the occasion.

UC/MBAB | REP 7+ | "Hunting" Weekend

What: A Weekend of hunting (where no real animals are harmed)
Who: Hosted by some UC family that has the type of property to host one of those. Invited are UC and MC folks - the Gallivans are invited, so the rest of the invited would have this vibe.
Cost: Nope
Where: At a country estate in the British countryside
Why: So I could have a backdrop to Cecily's thread. IC, so rich people can enjoy themselves.
When: July 27th to July 31st (Thursday to Monday)

An UC family is hosting a weekend getaway with hunting and the adjoining countryside activities.

The hunting itself has a twist, in the sense that they're not hunting real animals. The hosts have created enchanted "holograms" (for lack of a better, more Victorian vibe word) that look like animals. When someone hits them with a basic charm, they burst like colourful water balloons and a leader board updates to show how many each team caught. Guests are separated into teams based on who knows who and maybe some light matchmaking from the hosts' part.

The itinery:

On July 27th there will be a welcoming ball, think something chill as far as balls go.

The "hunt" will take place on July 28th & July 29th. At the end of each day there will be a large dinner.

On July 30th there will be a picnic with lawn games (muggle and magical alike) and then a goodbye ball (more extravagant than the welcoming one).

On Monday, July 31st, guests will start to depart.
