Henry is average in every way. Five feet, six inches tall and without notable muscle it is likely that Henry still has an inch or two to grow before reaching adulthood, yet unlikely that he will ever be anything but thin.History:
Dark curls atop his head are often tamed with magical pomade while in his family home, but are usually free to remain in tousled mess during the school year. His eyes are dark, and his eyebrows thick and ungroomed. He dresses for comfort rather than fashion, and has taken to the convenience in robes even outside of school. He wields his wand with his left hand.
1874 | Henry is born minutes after his fraternal twin sister, Bethany. The two spend their first year looking nearly identical in their features—dark brown hair, dark eyes, and a heads that look slightly too big for their bodies. To outsiders they are nearly identical, and it is only the lace fringe on Bethany's gowns that separates her from Henry.Personality:
1876 | Irma is born. Henry does not think much of it.
1877 | Bethany shows her first sign of magic at the young age of three. Henry throws a tantrum when he realizes she has now done something that hasn't. His mother gives birth to another baby, Charlie. The Meadowes family moves to Hogsmeade.
1878 | Bethany begins to learn the piano, and is touted as a budding prodigy by her tutor. Henry is not. He still has not shown his first sign of magic despite his numerous attempts to force it.
1879 | Neville is born. Henry begins his formal instruction under a tutor. He's said to be smart, but "has difficulties applying himself". He is not overly fond of work he sees no purpose for, and would rather hyper-fixate on one interest than practice all his subjects. Bethany begins her instruction under a governess and, of course, she's touted as a budding genius. Of course.
1881 | He is six years old when his first sign of magic comes, quite unexpectedly, during a family outing to the park. When he and his sister notice a baby bird had fallen to the ground, it is Henry who takes an interest in returning it to its nest. After Bethany's many attempts to convince him there is nothing they can do, Henry screams at her—and then, in rhythm with the deep breaths he takes the cool down, the creature floats back up towards the treetop until it is safe in its nest.
1883 | Lily is born.
1885 | Henry accepts his invitation to Hogwarts and joins his friend Thomas at Hogwarts in September. He is sorted into Hufflepuff, effectively separating him from his twin sister and most of his other friends. Initially resentful of his sorting, it is not long before Henry finds comfort in the common room and the other students in his house. Though he struggles to get good marks during his first term, he does not do bad and generally enjoys his classes. It is over Christmas break when Thomas' mother goes missing and, scandalously, is found to have run off with a pornographer. Loyal as ever, he defends his friend from bullies in a series of anger-laced shouting matches even as he struggles to get Thomas to open up to him.
1886 | His Aunt Roslyn's husband is elected Minister for Magic, which is cool but hardly effects him. Bethany receives word that her marks from first year were among the highest in their year, leading to a shopping spree on her behalf and a summer of grumpiness for Henry. He tries out for the Hufflepuff qudditch team in second year, believing he'll somehow "prove himself", only to fail miserably after being knocked in the head by a quaffle he failed to catch.
1887 | Irma joins him at school in September and is sorted into -----. In third year Henry adds Muggle Studies and Care of Magical Creatures to his schedule. He finds the former tolerable, but the latter becomes one of his favorites.
1888 | Travis enters his first year and is sorted into -----. Fourth year brings new challenges, and Henry is more convinced than ever that he needs to find his shtick. He tries everything—inventing (very poorly-done) potions, studying languages in an attempt to become a polyglot (another spectacular failure), and even writing books. He hates them all, and eventually decides the best thing to do is follow in his father's footsteps.
1889 | His fifth year comes, and Henry makes a last-ditch effort to convince his professors that he's really trying to do well. He goes to after-hours study sessions, gives up extracurricular activities, and becomes a library hermit in an attempt to get his marks under control.
1890 | OWL results arrive, and Henry is relieved to find that he's able to continue with the courses needed to become an auror. He needs to work harder—six NEWT classes is a lot—but he's up the challenge. Neville prepares to attend Hogwarts with him in September.
Other:LOYAL — PUSHOVER — IMMATURE — IMPATIENT
A childish sense of humor and a desire to please is the perfect recipe for a class clown, and the role has always come easily to Henry. Although not unintelligent, Henry's mind pales in comparison to that of his sister's, forcing him to be louder, more dramatic, and act out in order to be seen. Recent years have seen many attempts to act more mature, but having his buttons pushed makes it clear that the same impatient, attention-seeking boy still lives underneath his "grown up" mask. Still, he has the distinct loyalty of a Hufflepuff and is prone to violence (an easier method than using his words) if his friends or family members are slighted (but if it is his family or friends who challenge him, he often concedes to their criticism with a bowed head).
Underneath the grown up facade and even his insecurity-fueled anger issues lies a boy with a good heart and a softness to him that he refuses to admit exists. He gives his friendship to anyone willing to extend their kindness, and usually assumes the best of people. He will offer to help when he can, even if he is not confident in his ability to be of any use.
— SKILLS —
- A gentle bedside manner, though he will deny any accusations of being softer than he thinks a man ought to be.
- He speaks passable French, but struggles with his accent.
- Though decent on a broomstick, Henry lacks any sort of hand-eye coordination.
— TRIVIA —
- He keeps a pet owl names Tibby who he frequently talks to at late hours of the night.
- His favorite quidditch team is, surprisingly, the Holyhead Harpies.
- He is culturally Jewish, but is not notably religious himself.
