Other: You will always see Miss Hawthorne in the latest fashions for little girls, as her grandmother wanted her to always stand out as beautiful, even from a young age, and with all the money that the Hawthorne family has, it's no problem. Daphne is also quite fond of fashion, always pouring through her mother's copies of Witch Weekly, and now her grandmother's copies. She's most fond of wearing light blues, whites, and anything that makes her eyes stand out. As it would earn her a punishment, Daphne would never do anything to mess up her dresses - she doesn't climb trees or run around outside if she can help it. She is a proper little lady, wearing her clothes as neat and tidy as she can help it. Daphne has a strong fondness for beautiful ribbons, as well, and always is wearing some sort of ribbon or bow in her hair.
History:
Pre-1881 - The Elder Mrs. Hawthorne only ever managed to carry one child to term and that was her son, William. She was especially protective of him, doting on him like he was the most special thing in the entire world, but she was also quite harsh with him as she wanted him to be able to handle taking on the family duties as the sole heir and often would berate her husband because she believed he was much too soft with him when he should have been tough or too tough when he should have been soft. She ran the home light a tight ship and of course, this only led to him rebelling some by marrying the first girl who looked at him - some waif of an American woman who had only been to visit Wales, where the family lived, to see a long-distance relative of hers. Sure, she was UCPB, but the Elder Mrs. Hawthorne hardly approved of her and didn't think she was good enough for her son, and besides, she didn't like how carefree Americans were - she heard rumors that some of them went without chaperones because American men believed they could control themselves. The scandal!
1881 - Daphne was the first child to be born to Mr. and Mrs. Hawthorne
1883 - Mr. and Mrs. Hawthorne get a boy, the heir to the Hawthorne Family and Daphne assumes he's a new doll to play with.
1885 - Daphne displays her first sign of magic, causing the family to have a little celebration in her honor.
1889 - In what was supposed to be a fun journey the muggle way to see Rosalind's family in the United States turns to tragedy as the boat they are all on begins to sink. While both Mr. and Mrs. Hawthorne die that evening, both of their children are fortunately saved and brought back to their empty home in Wellingtonshire, where their parents moved shortly before Daphne was born. The Elder Mrs. Hawthorne rushes there, electing since her husband died previously that year and it gives her something to do, to raise the children herself. Of course, she's furious, blaming Rosalind for putting the silly notion of traveling like muggles in her son's head in the first place. She takes over to care for Daphne and her brother, making sure she raises them both to become fine young people - Daphne will be the most darling debutante and nothing like her frivolous mother, and hopefully she'd make sure her little brother had a lot more sense in his adulthood than her William.
