Ned bowed as was customary and gave Miss Adebayo a warm smile. He'd heard the other competitors speak of her talent, and he was rather interested to see her in action, whether he came out as the victor or not. This was a learning experience, after all.

"Ventus," he cast, hoping to blow enough wind at her to cause her to lose her footing and misfire.

As the dueling club president, Moony should not be underestimated—but at the same time, Genia could not help but want to show off a little. Though her wand had been out for the intial bow, she tucked it away in advance of the Gryffindor's casting, once again trying her hand at a wandless shield charm.

Mr. Moony's spell (quite literally) blew that shield charm out of the water. No contest there – Tyb awarded him the first point and granted Miss Adebayo the next turn at casting.

Damn. Genia's lips formed a hard line as she readied to cast her next spell—with a wand, this time. The Slytherin fired a stinging hex at her opponent, trying to channel her frustration into her spell's effectiveness.

Ned gave Miss Adebayo an impressed look for even attempting a wandless spell. If she was amenable, he very much wished to ask her where she learned such a thing.

Getting ready for the next round, he slid back into a better defensive stance and attempted to cast the full-body bind curse as it was, generally, very reliable without causing much damage.

Wand or no wand seemed not to matter here: Mr. Moony's speed and accuracy were, combined, too much for his opponent. The stinging hex shot off towards the ceiling as Miss Adebayo keeled over in a bind.

Waving his wand to rectify this, Tybalt announced the winner. "And so it'll be Mr. Moony going through to the finals! Commiserations, Miss Adebayo."
