Appearance :
Edgar is tall and slim which often makes him appear taller than his actual 5’11” height. His typically wears his hair short on sides and back and long on top but does change this time to time as the styles change. His skin is naturally tanned and his eyes are dark brown.
As he likes to look wealthier than he actually is, Edgar wears well-made clothing of fine cloth which is of the current fashion. He doesn’t have as many different outfits as he would like so it’s often noted he wears the same outfit twice in the same week. He keeps himself well groomed and looks to have potential to be more than the wealthy middle class he currently is.
He carries himself with confidence and pride, keeping his head up and only showing deference to those he knows are of higher class or position or appear to be so. Despite keeping to the decorum etiquette demands he has an easy smile and friendly nod to those he considers friends or his equal.
History:
Edgar is the youngest child out of Nigel and Gloria’s six children. Perhaps it was due to his mother getting on in years or for some other reason, Edgar was quite small as a newborn. He was fussy, and temperamental for his first couple of years but eventually learned (mostly due to his father’s firm hand) making a scene wouldn’t get him anything.
By the time he was old enough to attend Hogwarts, Edgar’s brothers and one sister had already attended and graduated from Hogwarts. They all had excellent scores and moved on to impressive careers. Edgar was expected to do just as well but he found learning in a class setting a challenge. It wasn’t due to lack of effort, he truly did try his hardest to get good grades but he wasn’t able to.
Edgar became fascinated with both dark magic and Muggle unarmed fighting while still at Hogwarts. Often during the summer he would learn about dark magic and how to cast it. He also found time to improve his skills with unarmed combat, usually with somebody skilled in fisticuffs and willing to teach him. Edgar typically disguised his features and used faked names to avoid being recognized, as he didn’t want his parents to learn what he was doing. Once he was out of school, he simply wanted to keep it a secret.
Coming home with fewer Owls than his brothers resulted in a hellish summer of his father constantly badgering him and threatening to kick him out of the family home should his NEWTs be just as dismal. In truth Edgar had did better than average but that wasn’t good enough for his father. His NEWTs weren’t impressive enough either and Edgar soon found himself no longer welcome at the family home.
Unknown to this father, being on his father’s bad side actually made it easier for him to focus on his own goals. He eventually would get back at his father for failing to see his true potential, thinking academic grades was all that mattered. He had made plenty of worthy connections during his time at Hogwarts and immediately turned his attention on his personal plans.
He used a combination of underhanded dealings, working with various clients to help them get rid of various ‘problems’ and invested the money he earned for each problem eliminated. Edgar soon found he enjoyed taking the life of others, especially Muggles, who were his typical ‘problem’ he had to eliminate. Though he was often paid in Muggle money he turned it around by purchasing gold which he then sold to goblins who were more than happy to convert it into standard Galleons. As an assassin he soon developed a reputation as being trustworthy and efficient and it was a good source of income for the first few years outside of Hogwarts. Ultimately he didn’t want to be a killer for hire for the rest of his life, he had bigger plans.
It took hard work and determination but Edgar managed to gain the respect and admiration he felt he deserved. He invested in various enterprises which netted him quite a bit of money to the point he had enough capital to establish a truly legitimate business in real estate and investments. His official business offices made it easier to channel funds from his more questionable sources of income, the occasional assassination but mostly the illegal gambling and brothels he owns. Like his other illegal activities he used an alias, keeping mostly hands off approach unless his managers failed to keep the profits going.
One day he hopes to gain enough money and wealth to push him right into the Upper Class. If he did that, then he’ll definitely outshine any of his brothers and he could proudly shove his success down his father’s throat.
Personality:
Edgar is a charming well-mannered man who doesn’t appear to have any trouble socializing with his peers, regardless of sex. He has something of a take charge personality, preferring to be the one to make decisions than rely on the leadership of others. He can be confrontational at times but is wise enough not to cause issues with those of higher class or in a position to make his life miserable.
For the most part he’s well mannered, respectful of those of higher class and to women in general. To those who know him he is not a man to cross. Deep down he is a man filled with resentment, frustration and jealousy. He spent most of his life trying to live up to the expectations of his father only to continually fail. Even now with all his successes he still feels his father disappointment.
When it comes to his shady activities he is ruthless to those who fail him or challenge him but can be surprisingly forgiving when it comes to honest mistakes. Repeat the same mistake however and he’ll make them regret it. Edgar can also be cruel especially when it comes to dealing with those he considers inferior. It’s a side of him he prefers not to show to those who don’t share his views, even then he would only truly open up to those he trusts explicitly.
