Disastrous effects indeed! Diana gasped as what followed could only be described as an absolute disaster that had been waiting to happen. She'd flinched as the axe went flying and was rather ashamed to feel relieved that it didn't strike her as a result. She sighed - she could either be useful or sit like a useless, baby bowetruckle. As Melody went to gather keys, Diana took out her wand and flicked it in the direction of – Cecily, as the other older woman seemed to be screaming about.

The blonde debutante's body levitated slightly and Diana moved her to the edges of the room where she was least likely to get trampled. The sight of blood was not something she knew she would be able to get out of her vision easily. "Miss," She said, tapping the girl firmly as she could without slapping her. Of course, she was out cold.

Diana could feel the panic rising in her chest and she doffed her scarf to press it against the leg of the unconscious debutante. "Does anyone have any smelling salts?" she called loudly over the woman's screams. "And –" she broke off with a pointed glance at the older woman, hoping someone would seek to either calm her nerves or Merlin, put her out with a spell if that helped ease the tension in the room.

Emilia was, actually, unphased by the blood and the screaming other than her general level of annoyance - call it Unspeakable team culture.

The auror-in-training had suggested someone hand her the note, but they were too slow for Emilia's liking, and so she snatched it out of the hand. Languages weren't her strong suite, but she could parse it - it wasn't, actually, any language at all, but a mix of basic words in various European languages (and, eventually, Mermish) and English nonsense.

"The challenge is in the getting out," Emilia said, "And we have all the tools we need." She rolled her eyes and continued trundling through it - behind the vanished door, there was a brick wall.

"There should - there should be a brick sticking out? Press it."

After the blonde girl had suddenly fainted, Rosie had tried calming her... chaperone? Whomever this shrieking woman was, down. It took a while, but by the time the woman had calmed to a small whimper, Rosie got up and began scanning the wall as the Ministry woman instructed. Hesitantly, she pressed the brick sticking out. If she died from this, she hoped Hugo had enough honor to sue the Ministry.

Helga sat in the pool of her own blood, a pout slipping onto her face as the man, grumpy and apparently heartless, plucked the axe out of her grasp without much difficulty. She had no medical experience, but knew enough from adventure novels that she needed to tie a piece of cloth around her leg—so she did.

She ripped a piece of fabric off Miss Gallivan's dress, not wanting to ruin her own, and tied it tightly around her leg. She was fortunate that her cut was not so deep; the same couldn't see said for Miss Gallivan.

She had just managed to get back to her feet when the entire room began to shake. The wobbly bookshelf rattled and then collapsed, and the floorboards began to creak. The brick wall at the back of the room shook the most violently of all, and suddenly they parted in the same way the brick entrance to Diagon Alley did.

It didn't lead to the outside—there was another room, and... a body?

"Is he alive?" she asked to no one in particular. She took a single step forward and was relieved to find that the room behind the brick wall actually looked like a shop. Perhaps they'd been in the back of the shop all along!

If Adam hadn't been religious, he would have sworn at this turn of events. He didn't want to deal with any more bodies, living or otherwise. They already had one unconscious girl and one hysterical woman to drag along as they proceeded.

"Don't touch him," Adam instructed as he walked forward into the new room, surveying both the body and their new surroundings, while still carrying the axe.

"There's another key here," he said, gesturing towards a shelf in the new room. "Just one. Want to try it in the door?"

Loretta took the key and went over to the new door and turned it in the lock. "It opens right into High Street!" She opened the door just as the 'body' clapped his hands and stood up - looking way too jovial for his own good as far as the still half-blinded Loretta was concerned.

Despite her lack of faith in her defensive abilities, Melody drew her wand and pointed it towards the clapping man. "Who are you?!" She demanded. At this point, he was lucky to have not been stunned on the spot. If he took even a halfstep from his spot Melody would stun him into oblivion.

With her scarf thoroughly soaked through with the girl's blood, Diana was close to tearing a piece of her own dress to staunch the flow of blood. Mercifully, it seemed the blood flow had slowly come to a stop, though she dared not remove her hands. The smell of iron was thick and she blinked rapidly to clear her mind.

The only thing she could do was look up and try to peer into the room from her position on the floor as she heard Melody's voice echo throughout it. She could only hope that the two Ministry folk had more up their sleeves if this afternoon took an even worse turn. In addition, Diana prayed to anyone that was available that this girl not bleed out and die whilst she was being attended to by her.

"Well, if we've found High Street," Emilia said, gesturing vaguely towards the door. Frankly, she didn't care about the clapping man - her non-work life was supposed to be normal, and now that they were out, she didn't really care about this.

Things were now happening at top speed, if felt like. Rosie walked past where the brick wall used to be. All she could really focus on what the man said next. What really mattered was that the man then claimed that he was, in fact, the owner.

Beginning to explain how this was his doing, Rosie felt it absolutely necessary to do what she was about to do. Marching right up to him, he didn't have time to finish his explanation before she gave him a right good slap to the face.

"You should be ashamed of yourself." She growled before turning around promptly and heading out the door. The only noticeable thing she saw on her way out was a look on Hugo's face that she was in no way familiar with. Whatever that meant.

Helga was in no position to stomp out of the building as she wished, but she tried her best and limped her way towards the door. "I'm going to hospital. Someone should bring her along as well," she said, eyeing Miss Gallivan. As long as they didn't say that Helga had caused the accident! She'd faced more than enough embarrassment for one day!

The moment she stepped through the door, Helga felt the pain in her leg begin to disappear. She glanced down and, to her amazement, watched as the gash vanished before her eyes!

"Well that's... something." She eyed Miss Gallivan, hoping the same would be graced with the same miracle.

So it was over. Whatever it was.

Adam checked in with the unconscious woman and cast a rudimentary first aid spell on her injury. She'd be alright, he thought, though he was no healer. "Thank you," he said to the girl who had been tending her, without acknowledging the owner.

When he was finished with that, he turned to the other injured girl. "Is your eye alright?" he asked. "I'm sure this bloke would be delighted to pay for your hospital trip if you need a healer."

He was sure of no such thing, but if there was any trouble he could certainly ensure the auror's office heard about it.

Loretta had watched as Miss Scamander healed right up and hoped the same would happen for her eye. "I'm in the hopes the injury will vanish as Miss Scamanders has but thank you," she said gratefully, stepping through the door to High Street and sighing in relief as her eye healed as if there had been no injury at all. "I'm just happy we'e all free, really." High Street had never looked so beautiful, even with the rat scattering through a trash can nearby.

Her tensed shoulders released mildly as she listened to the crazy man's explanations. A game then. A stupid, potentially fatal game. Melody looked towards Diana wordlessly and gestured towards the door. The pair would at least have something to talk about at their sneaky meeting.

Diana looked up as the woman's leg was properly tended to - at least until perhaps she got through the door. She smiled gratefully at the man and stood up, curtseying politely. "Thank you so much, sir." She enthused, though it was hard to look half as grateful with her gloved hands so bloodied.

She caught Melody's eye and nodded, grabbing her bloodied scarf from the floor and hurrying to her side. Nevermind the stupid game - the silver lining of it all would be she could get some time with Melody; the first they'd had in a long time.

Sure enough, as they exited, Diana's scarf was restored to normal as were the state of her gloves. She would still have the house-elves incinerate this entire outfit once she got home.
