Dueling '90: Xavier Mondragon vs. Iziza Noel
#1
January 5th, 1890 — Headquarters of the London Society for the Practice of Combative Magic
A more curious pairing Tybalt thought he'd never seen (though perhaps he was to blame for this; his department did have a little something to do with the arrangements of this whole affair) - but nevertheless, the most unexpected pairings were often the best. And where better for people to encounter circles of the world they didn't usually than in a highly-stylised magical battle? Merlin, for all he knew this queer pair would fall in love over a Disarming Charm and the next thing Witch Weekly would know was that they'd run away together!

Well, one could hope. Having issued (the rules), Tyb gestured at the man first. "If you'd start us off, Mr. Mondragon!"

Xavier smiled towards the young woman who would be facing off against him in this duel. He was meant to go first so he decided to go with the Freezing Charm. Couldn't cast spells against him if she couldn't even move, after all. "Immobulus."
Iziza Noel

"Finite" the half goblin shot back, hoping to nullify the spell before it struck her. She didn't fancy not being able to move.  She could use wandless magic not not nonverbal - though she should likely work on that.

iziza is a half-goblin, meaning she is quite short. your character might not know why but they will notice her height and white hair that marks her as such.

The man had smiled at her before he had cast the freezing charm... but, as fate would have it, that was not enough to melt the spell's effects, and Miss Noel had only half-finished the incantation before she was rendered frozen. (With her hair, she looked very much like a miniature snow fairy. She would look quite good on a Christmas tree.)

So it was left to Tybalt to do the unfreezing honours, and once she was able to move again, he declared brightly, "Mr. Mondragon takes the first round, then. Miss Noel, have at him!"

As she unfrozen, she couldn't help but frown in displeasure. How could she have been that slow? As the frustration rose, part of her just wanted to say screw it, but it was a very small part that she forced down through a deep breath.

Okay, focus. Whoever this was, wasn't to be underestimated... but she shouldn't be either. And with that she cast a spell that would hopefully send him to the floor with a trip jinx.

Xavier countered the young womans spell with a jinx that would have her growing antlers.

#7
And Miss Noel had indeed had her revenge.

In Mr. Mondragon's defence, it was tremendously difficult to cast an accurate spell mid-stumble, but in the end he was the one face forward on the floor. Tyb supposed Miss Noel looked a great deal taller from there.

(He had the good sense not to say a word about falling head over heels, but this could very much support his theory.)

"A tie-breaker, then!" He declared gleefully. "Mr. Mondragon, if you will."

IZIZA: 10 | XAVIER: 6

#8
For this last round, Xavier cast a spell that would have the sprite of a woman dancing uncontrollably.

#9
Wand out she cast a tooth growing charm, hoping that lengthened teeth would keep her opponent from successfully casting his spell.

But once again, Mr. Mondragon's spell worked best, spinning Miss Noel into a toe-tapping sort of dance (Tybalt wasn't sure what sort - a polka? Or it looked a little Irish, a jig maybe?) which he, continuing on with his delusions, took to be a tender move rather than a cruel one. More romantic if they were to dance together, but ah well. Such things were not meant to be.

Mostly because the duel was over. "Mr. Mondragon takes it!"
