The Last of the Bixbys

The Bixbys haven't had it easy for the last couple of years. After Sloane's disappearance and Wally's injuries, things are slowly starting to get back to normal. How Mama & Papa Bixby are handing things is pretty open!

Harrison Bixby Guy Remmers

1870 | MCHB | unattached | 8+ rep creature-induced injuries healer (either hospital) The epitome of a middle child, Harry is typically in the background. Steadfast and reliable, he's never had the need to be the center of attention like Sloane or to prove himself like Alvin or Rufus. He is content to do his own thing and play a supporting role in his family. He was probably pretty rocked by Sloane's "death" (disappearance) and probably tries to subtly stay on top of Wally's recovery without smothering him as he wasn't allowed to help with direct care in the aftermath of the dragon attacks. He is currently abroad with Sloane and though did not enjoy the voyage to get there, is into it now! Alternatively, his childhood friend Josiah Hatchitt is also up for grabs!

Carson Bixby Clive Owen

1834 | MCHB | married | rep 8+ Quidditch Coach A former quidditch player himself, Carson now coaches (team open, but probably not wherever Rufus has played!). He's always loved the sport and makes a good go of it! An involved father, mostly in the ways of amusing his children, he was always out there in the back yard playing pickup games. His marriage to Fiona was one of mutual affection that grew into love over time.

The McKinnons, though a respectable family, are a bit of an oddity in London. Having all been adopted by Grace McKinnon, a well off middle class widow, the siblings are not blood-related. All were adopted from the orphanage in a series of fortunate events that all saw them friends beforehand. They play off each other well like any other family, and are especially attuned to each other when it comes to the family grapevine. They are incredibly loyal to each other and like to bond over scrimmaging quidditch as a past time.

All of them sport a ring that they keep on their person at all times — some wear it on a chain around their necks, and others on their hands. Each person has a unique pattern they tap out onto the ring's surface with their wand if they need emergency aid. There are only a handful of times in the past years that a family emergency has been triggered.

Elizabeth “Eliza” McKinnon

❧ THE NEGOTIATOR ❧
Hit Witch/Auror | b. 1863

Despite her job, Eliza is the most patient and mild-mannered of the bunch, and doesn’t like to jump into things too quickly unless it’s to put herself between an innocent and danger (it’s lucky that they all live together, otherwise Derek would run himself ragged with how many times he has to heal Eliza after work). Intelligent, and perceptive, Eliza is a pillar of strength for the McKinnons. When trouble comes, she’s usually the first to jump feet first, elbows out to rally the rest of them. If someone’s in trouble expect her to be the first one there. It’s Eliza and Adam who have taken on the mantle as heads of the family, and as such they often find themselves as the problem solvers. Edith McKinnon

Midwife | b. 1865

The Healer, also dubbed The Worrier by Derek, Edie spends half her time worrying about her older siblings, and the other amount of times worried about her younger siblings. She's always been a bit more timid than the others, but no less eager to join the family in their weekly scrimmage. Dedicated to her work, Edie is often out of the house on calls for clients. She is an Optimist and Romantic and hopes to find a husband, however she is absolutely adamant that they be approved by her brothers and sisters. Pictured is Sophie Nelisse with alternatives completely open.

Isabeau McKinnon

❧ THE TRUTH SEEKER ❧
Reporter | b. 1868

It’s a toss up between Isabeau and Eliza for who gives their brothers the most grey hairs. If Eliza is willing to put herself between a citizen and a dark wizard without a second thought, Isabeau doesn’t really pay attention to any of guidelines that she should, unless it’s to chide one of her siblings for putting themselves in danger. She’s called on Derek more than once to help get her out of the oddest situations, and once fished out she usually heads right back in. With ink stained hands and spectacles that often get lost, Isabeau’s curiosity is bound to get the better of her one of these days. The family can hardly blame her though, and they usually give her a pass. They’ve stopped asking for explanations for her reasons for getting into trouble in the meantime, and Isabeau is hoping it stays that way. Otherwise she’ll eventually have to provide an explanation for why she’s kept her blood curse a secret for so long. Pictured is Skai Jackson with alternatives to be POC w/ an ingenue vibe.

Together Jack and Derek are often referred to as the Dynamic Duo. Jack is the Chaos while Derek usually tries to rein him in at least a little. Along with Adam they are fiercely protective over their sisters, and Jack often tries to get Edie to agree to more outlandish things in attempts to get her out of her comfort zone. He's had a few Quidditch injuries in the past, but is quite dedicated to the sport; a bit like the Energizer Bunny in real life, Jack is a true extrovert and adrenaline junkie. Derek and Edith are convinced he'll actually be the death of them. Pictured is Tyler Posey with alternatives completely open.

Perdita maintains a complex yet supportive relationship with her younger sibling. The four-year age gap would foster a dynamic in which Perdita would often assume a natural leadership role; her personality would amplify this tendency. Her intentions are rooted in the desire to guide and protect her younger sibling, even though she sometimes comes across as slightly overbearing or directive.

While occasionally bristling under Perdita's assertive nature, the youngest Bloomfield child also benefited from Perdita's drive and forward-thinking. Perdita's optimism and enthusiasm often inspired the youngest sibling. This inspiration would push them to explore newfound interests and overcome challenges.

As the youngest Bloomfield child matured, it was evident that Perdita's protective instincts would evolve into a nuanced form of support. Perdita would remain a steadfast ally, offering solutions and insights when her little brother or sister faced difficulties. There's an underlying foundation of affection and mutual respect, even though their interactions might still feature moments of playful dominance from Perdita; she deeply cares for her younger sibling and celebrates their successes with characteristic enthusiasm, despite her sometimes intense demeanor.

HOGWARTS HOUSE: Hogwarts House possibilities are wide open! Will the youngest Bloomfield child follow in Perdita's footsteps and be a part of Slytherin, or will a different Hogwarts House claim their newfound allegiance during their time at the school thus far? I am open to hearing your thoughts on this.

FACE CLAIMS: For a visual idea, a young Christina Ricci or a young Keira Knightley are the face claims that I would envision if Perdita were to have a sister, and a young Leonardo DiCaprio or a young Elijah Wood are the face claims that I would envision if Perdita were to have a brother. While these are possible play-bys, please know that I'm very open to other suggestions that may suit the role of the youngest Bloomfield child well! The most important thing out of all of this is finding a face claim that inspires you the most and can resonate with the character concept.

F. LOVEGOOD

B. 1875 | UCPB SQUIB | HOME TUTORED | DEBUTANTE

Born on Friday the 13th, F is the youngest of her siblings—one who was revealed to be a squib when no invitation to magical schooling arrived. Of the Lovegood siblings, F was always the most isolated as she was not able to attend school. She was also the closest to their mother, and has inherited some of her superstitious nature—though not nearly to the same extent. She has always worked hard to overcompensate for her lack of magic, and is exemplary in the various womanly skills expected by the English society she is eager to join. She has a sunny dispoisition on the outside, but is she truly as confident as she comes across?

No one is saying she's not a squib, but given the circles the girls will be moving in, their aunt suggested avoiding the topic would be best. How F feels about this, and how long it will last, is up to you.  Suggested PB is Angourie Rice.

1895 Update: Like Eury, F. went back to India after an enjoyable but lacklustre Season. They're returning in early May for another kick at the can—will this be the year she finds success, or is her heart not in it (...or directed somewhere else)?

C. NEE LOVEGOOD

Three dead fiances is not a small number, but as of the Christmas season '93, she is officially married! Sure, he's a couple decades older, but he's nice enough, Not Dead, and they went on a multi-month honeymoon across Europe that allowed her to finally meet family in England.

Born on Friday the 13th, "Concordia" is a fraternal twin to B. Her first fiance, an arranged match, died in 1885 in a sudden landslide. Her second, with whom she was in love, was bitten by a snake and died in 1889. Her third, who was sort of... there, died of cholera in 1891, which was rather overshadowed by the death of her mother the same year.

Once her honeymoon is finished, she, her new husband, and the surprisingly well-developped bun in her oven will likely settle in Britain. Suggested PB is Amanda Seyfried.

Born on Friday the 13th, D still maintains that his mother was an absolute loon for being so hung up on superstition. Of all the Lovegood children, D was the only one to visit England prior to graduation, serving as part of the Mandira delegation for the Pan-Magical Games in 1885, and has still kept in touch with some of the friends he made during the competition. He resides in India, but may choose to come out and visit his sisters. Notably, he lost one of his arms in a freak Exploding Snap accident and now none of the immediate family plays. Suggested PB is Tom Glynn-Carny.

MISS HOPEWELL

B. 1860-1870 | MCPB/MCHB | OPEN HOUSE/SCHOOLING | GOVERNES-CUM-SCHOLAR

For the past 3-5 years, Miss Hopewell (name open!) has served as Jocasta's dutiful governess. For the past two years, Orson has viewed her less as staff and more as something akin to a sister as they've endeavoured to raise Jocasta and overcome The Fire together. Her background is relatively open, though she's probably pureblooded. She should have attained at least OWLs/equivalent and her reputation should be above reproach. Patient and level-headed, she is genuinely fond of the Flints, and has grown comfortable challenging them (privately) when they're being stubborn or short-sighted.

With Jocasta off to school in the autumn, Miss Hopewell will be taking on a new challenge: Orson is sponsoring her education at the Flint Institute, where she will be studying spirits. Neither of them are willing to endure the horrors of Delphinia again. She was injured in the fire; whether that has had lasting impacts or not is up to her player. BENILDA

Smack dab in the middle of the Flint siblings, as a child Benilda lorded her year-and-a-bit over Ursula as though it were the holy grail itself; as an adult, they are "practically the same age". The two have never exactly gotten along, something that Orson has stayed out of, first by virtue of not bloody caring, and second by virtue of leaving the country for a decade. Orson has much the same relationship with Benilda as he does with Ursula: some affection and loyalty by virtue of being family, but they don't really know one another properly at this stage of their lives.

She is married or widowed, with at least one child or Ursula would have lorded fertility over her by now. Benilda was previously played as a Greengrass, but this is flexible to allow her existing in-laws (and because existing Greengrassess are woefully poor).The suggested PB is Laura Donnelly with alternatives to have features in common with both siblings.

If she is presently married(/widowed), it was probably an arranged match; if she is still looking for a husband, it is likely her father has passed in the interveneing years before lining something up for her. Her family is at least soft purist and decidedly classist. Pictured is Jessica De Gouw, but this is wide open! I'm open to an existing character if you're open to retconning in a dead sister!

There comes a time in every lad’s life when he must become a man. In Madoc’s case, that is when he does the math and realizes that his existing income would not support his lifestyle indefinitely. Faced with the decision of many a second son (find a profession, or...), he chooses the or and marries a woman with a sizable dowry in 1877.

In addition to her money, She came with a country house that is not surrounded by dragons (great for entertaining!) and a desire to be married not out of love but out of a desire to not be a spinster living with her parents. Madoc does not particularly like her all the time, but he does respect her. While she is well-positioned to be a socialite, she could also be a healer at St. Mungos if preferred; she just would have begun her training post-spawning. Though she does not share her husband's fascination with dragons (she'll never admit it, but they terrify her), she does consider herself an equestrian and at least vaguely outdoorsy, and actually handles Madoc's side of the running of the Yarwood breeding stables. Pictured is Claire Foy, but her face is open!

They do know that their school is fully paid for...and as a result, care a bit less than they should about their studies. They are, however, very curious about their parentage...

They are fully human, and should be at least half-white.

He is doted upon by his mother, spends more one-on-one time with his father than his siblings are afforded, and is, more or less, a typical boy of his station. Regina loves Ares dearly, though their relationship oscillates between animosity and dedication. She notes that he has a mean streak that could come out ... He would light upon an insecurity, and irritation, and pick at it like a scab—he knew he shouldn't, but it was hard for him to resist. He also sometimes cheats at chess. Though he does not like to show it, Ares is actually anxious to go to Hogwarts in the fall in spite of the fact that his cousins and aunt-sister are going. At home, he matters, but there, he'll just be another student...

RUFUS A. WILDE

B. SEPT-DEC 1882 | UCPB | OPEN HOUSE | SECOND/THIRD YEAR ('95)

After a decade of magic, Rufus was jubilantly welcomed the first (and ultimately, only) child of Alexander and Gladys Wilde. He was named for his mother's favourite sister and his father, respectively, and relocated from America with his parents in 1884. It is scant months later when his parents both contract the Laughing Plague and perish, leaving Rufus under the guardianship of Ernest and Rufina Mulciber. Rufus is the heir to a sizable fortune, but will not come into possession of it until his 25th birthday. An allowance has been left for his maintenance and will increase when he turns 17.

As the years pass, it begins to be noticed—but never dwelled upon—how much he looks like Meriweather Mulciber. This would not have been remarkable (after all, they're cousins!) except Meriweather isn't actually related to him by blood. Perhaps this thread will be picked at later...

Rufus is very much a cousin: Rufina is fond of him, but it's clear she views him as little different than Rex or Nico. That said, the Longbottom horde, and more broadly Protterbottoms, are known for being tight-knit and loyal, so he will never want for familial connection. Suggested PB is Ty Tennant. Even though Ty's isn't, the character's biological father was David Tennant, so alternatives should bear resemblance!

B. JUL-DEC 1884 | MCPB | A MYSTERY | CHILD/INCOMING FIRST YEAR ('95)

Jameson's only biological sister, Elspeth was born after their father's passing, and with her birth, extinguished their mother's life. An orphan out of the gate, she has always felt slightly adrift in spite of the family's efforts to include her and unabashed love for her; this is intensified by the fact that she is an introvert, and finds having so many relatives (the Longbottoms, the Prewetts, the Brownes) #Invested in her overwhelming at times. Jameson is her rock, though, and fortunately, Odira #GetsHer. Depending on when in the year she was born, she will go to Hogwarts in either 1895 or 1896. The Stokes Family
For Antoinette Stokes

The Stokes family is on the higher end of middle class, thanks to the renown of patriarch Peter Sr.'s job as an Auror as well as the fact that the family has a little bit of extra money. Matriarch Laura has fervently done her job to keep their names in the positive side of things, while sons Peter Jr. and Eric are both successful in their career paths (more or less) In more recent years, they've gained a reputation for being a little more odd as daughter Antoinette has officially joined the AiT program, much to Laura's dismay. All faceclaims are open, but should resemble Rachel Hilson.

Peter Anthony Stokes Sr.
[1836] Former (Head?) Auror, now retired
Peter was famous for what he did as an Auror and the job he did, but had to retire from the career after an injury in 1887-1888. If he was ever Head Auror (I will leave this between you and the History Records), he probably dropped it after he turned 45, probably at the request of his wife, but would have been hesitant to leave the career entirely until his injury. I've left it open so far, but there's potential for drama there. He always hoped at least one of his children would follow his footsteps. Peter didn't have the grades and Eric didn't have the desire, so Antoinette was the controversial pick. He's probably keeping tabs on her, even if he doesn't let on. Peter and Laura mostly get along, but their differing opinions on Antoinette's job have soured things a little.

Laura Stokes nee (open)
[1842] Housewife/socialite
Laura's natal family is likely well to do, and marrying a respectable Auror meant that she was living the dream of society, even if she was constantly worried about his health and the danger posed to him on the job. She very much enjoys the aspects of society that involve throwing parties and meeting people, and likely has a circle of closer friends her age that she gossips with. She would never admit to reading Witch Weekly, but absolutely does. She's extraordinarily proud of her sons and gets along about as well as could be expected with them, while she and Antoinette have always been at odds because Laura dreamed of having a girl to do girl things with, and Antoinette seems to hate every single one. She is willing to reach out, but hesitates because she also doesn't want to break the bond between Peter and Antoinette.

Peter Anthony Stokes Jr.
[1870] Obliviator
Peter Jr. and Antoinette are a lot alike. They both wanted to follow in their father's footsteps, and they're both a little pushy. However, where Antoinette had to work hard in order to get the grades she did, Peter Jr. could always coast by due to his natural intellect, which made almost every subject seem like a breeze. Until he got an A on one of the required NEWTs (not Charms) and ended up as an Obliviator instead. How he's reacted since...up to you! He could be loathing his position and jealous of his younger sister, or he could have settled in. He might start paying attention to debs this season (or he might have no interest), but his mother would be encouraging some socialization.

Eric Stokes
[1872] Healer
Eric would be the black sheep of the family if he wasn't so nice. He was never interested in being an Auror, and went in a completely different direction: Healing. His mother can't be proud enough and always talks about how Eric will be head of his department in the blink of an eye, but Eric's seen what that type of ambition can do to someone's family life and he wants none of it. At the moment, his main priority is making a stable life for himself so that one day he can support the family he dreams of. He gets along fine with Peter Jr. and Antoinette, but can find them a little intense sometimes. He has the most arguments with Peter Sr., but even then he has always been the type to just grit his teeth.

The Pomfrey Family

DR. HIPPOCRATES POMFREY

B. 1828 | MCHB/PB | RAVENCLAW | PHYSICIAN & HEALER

The younger of the Pomfrey twins, Hippocrates followed his father's large footsteps into medicine. His life, otherwise, has been unremarkable, bar his journey east after his mother's passing. His is a quiet demeanour, and Stan doubts his father will ever remarry—though how true that is will be up to his player. Suggested PB is Hugh Laurie.

He is a much lauded duelist, and public perception of him is beyond reproach. Thessaulus is loyal to his family, however different he and his brother are. Suggested PB is Pip Torrens.

THE DAY NURSE

The more experienced of the two nurses employed by the Offices of the Doctors Pomfrey, "Matilda" attained her O.W.L.s at Hogwarts before leaving school to train as a mediwitch; from there, she found employment as the night nurse for a number of years, learning a broader range of patient care and light administative skills until replacing the previous day nurse. She works daily from eight to eight, though only works weekends if there is a patient in residence, and may be relieved by one of the doctors on weekdays if she needs to run errands. "Matilda" is very capable and forthright. Face, name, ethnicity, are all open.

The less experienced of the two nurses employed by the Offices of the Doctors Pomfrey, "Mae" attained her O.W.L.s at Hogwarts before leaving school to train as a mediwitch. She left this field for whatever reason and becmae the night nurse at the Offices of the Doctors Pomfrey, learning a broader range of patient care and light administative skills. She works nightly from eight to eight, though only works weekends if there is a patient in residence. "Mae" is has a more nervous disposition, and has proven not to be fantastic in a large-scale crisis, but is wonderful with patients on a day-to-day basis. Face, name, ethnicity, are all open. I am open to an existing mediwitch transitioning into this role instead!

Selene is an incoming first (if born after 1st September) or second year (if born before), and the youngest of a fairly close-knit family in Bartonburg. Selene’s childhood was thus a fairly loving one, though she may have been affected by the reported death of her father in 1888 and the simmering household tension of the years prior, though unaware of any secrets being kept from her. She has a close playmate in brother Nat, and her half-siblings are also pretty protective of her. The Gallivans have a lot of ties to quidditch, so she is probably fairly knowledgeable on the sport, though her interest (or lack thereof!) in it is entirely up to you, as is most else about her! Reserved for Miri!

His personality is also widely open, but he was very much Warren's preferred child and it was made obvious. How that shaped him is up to you! Again, how he handled his father's death is also widely open.
Ambrose Burroughs [Callan Farris]	1883 | UCHB | Incoming First Year | 9 rep Like his brother, Ambrose's personality is wide open. He was probably also favored by Warren over the girls, but not to the degree that his brother was. How he handled his death is also open, as are his feeling about attending Hogwarts now!

Oldest girl of the Whiteldge family and twin of Handsome Whitledge, Cupcake has been a wonderful image of society lady. The only point against her would be seen in her home as she tends towards attempting to bake her own pastries when time allows. And not good pastries, though her husband probably pretends to love them as a form of affection. Husband's family is open - no current or serious past scandals. Cupcake and Handsome have always been close. While less harsh than Handsome when handling Sweetie, Cupcake will side with Handsome on the majority of disputes and avoid getting involved unless genuinely pressed.

Honey Whitledge

b. Post-Sep-1874 | UCHB | Hufflepuff House | Open | Emma Kenney

Honey and Sweetie used to be thick as thieves, until Honey's first year. Upon being temporarily placed in Slytherin when the sorting hat was stolen by Peeves, only to return and sort her into Hufflepuff, everything fell apart over petty squabbles and superficial house pride. It is open for discussion if bridges have been mended, and perhaps a thread or two in the past?

During her younger years, she had goals to join some form of career endeavors. Since her falling out with Sweetie, Handsome's influence vs. that of their parents', and their other sisters' being debutantes, it's open to player whether or not Honey continued to stay true to exploring her own career goals and passions, or if she felt the social expectations weighing upon her and decided that she didn't like the idea of being compared to Sweetie. Should she be interested in pursuing a career goal, she has delayed such pursuit for the sake of providing some form of peace in the household and as a way to get out of the house faster by finding a husband as a full-time debutante.

While Honey did graduate in 1893 she did not debut until 1894 due to a mutual decision between herself and Handsome to go into finishing school due to Darling still being out and Sweetie's ministerial election campaign. Still, now she is out and Darling is out, but at least it looks like Sweetie will be out of the house soon!

This is Ophelia, June’s (younger) identical twin sister. They do not get along at all, and well, June used to hex her at Hogwarts (she gave her antlers once just for fun), and in turn Ophelia would dish it right back.The Edevane family dabble in dark magic (their father has tried and failed to bring back their dead mother), but Ophelia can feel however she wants about that - June embraces it. How she feels about the Season is up to you, or you could even have her engaged or married if that tickles your fancy; June doesn’t take it quite seriously, although this year she might, mainly because of her little race with Beckett. Either way, she'd want to be married before her sister, just because that's their relationship.


Also available: Alistair Edevane, their father, who lost the love of his life when his wife died. His life ambition is to somehow bring her back to life. He's remarried to Grace Edevane, who is the bane of June's existence.

The extended family that the Wolff family actively speak to are in the green in terms of reputation. Trevor's sibling count is open until he is played, but he does have at least one married brother with children. Those two are close enough that Trevor allowed said brother to take his children to India. Every head of their own house has a wing in the Wolff Estate near Galaway Ireland, where they are welcome to live full-time or use to stay for family get togethers. Unmarried sisters will either stay on the Estate or in a closer relative's personal residential home, depending on the circumstances.
