Did You Know?
Braces, or suspenders, were almost universally worn due to the high cut of men's trousers. Belts did not become common until the 1920s. — MJ
Had it really come to this? Passing Charles Macmillan back and forth like an upright booby prize?

Entering the Flint ballroom, you may think that you're in the wrong place. Indeed, the entry way has transported you to the garden of the family's country house, which has been decked out for the occasion: dance floor, levitating instruments for music, refreshments, live statuary, flowers charmed to bloom in moonlight instead of daylight, a hedge maze for trysts to lose yourself from the crowd...

Enid has told her son she throws this event every year. This is a lie. She's just pumped to have him home.

UCPB | REP 6+ | SEASON THINGS

What: A Wandless Picnic!
Who: Arranged by Lady Laura Ainsworth, a widowed matron of society known for her impeccable taste and not-so-subtle meddling. Guests include a curated mix of the purist upperclass. (P. much everyone that meets the criteria, purist or not; I HC that she's a gossip and likes to invite the outcasts for some drama.)
Cost: N/A – Guests are asked to bring a wandlessly conjured or non-magically sourced food item. Some cheat. Some very clearly did not. //eyes (But fear not, there will be edible munchies. Staff are clearly doing most of the work.)
Where: Along the far side of Gramercy Park, the Ainsworth family estate in the Cotswolds.
Why: To celebrate "the pure of blood's inherently stronger ties to their magic" #bloodpurist (And because Lady and Fox needed an awkward setting for an unofficial arrangement.)
When: Friday, June 13 (too perfect)

Guests are required to leave their wands in a gilded, warded case upon arrival. Seating is arranged in small clusters with just enough distance for modest privacy, but close enough for others to watch. Some guests discover they’ve been placed opposite former flames, rivals, or suspiciously attentive acquaintances.
  • A “wandless toast” begins the event, during which at least three champagne flutes explode from too much intent.
  • The picnic includes low tables, silk cushions, and floral charmwork.
  • An over-ambitious guest attempts a wandless banishing charm on a wasp and instead sends an entire treacle tart skyward.
  •  There are a number of meddlesome and slightly judgmental garden gnomes floating around that like to eavesdrop.
  • The garden paths are charmed to bloom underfoot, and the fountains occasionally hum opera.

And what's a garden party/picnic without some games:
  • Guests are given a lightweight linen napkin and challenged to keep it floating in the air with only their intent—gracefully, please. Bonus points for charm: can you make it spin? Dance? Fold itself into a swan?
  • A set of soft velvet balls have been enchanted to hover and guests must flick them into floating hoops using only wandless bursts of willpower.
  • Guests are handed a delicate glass bell jar with a single peony bud inside. They are to “coax it open” with emotional intent and wandless focus.
