Hey folks, I have an idea for an event for Hogwarts staffers, plus maybe some scholarly types that are acquainted with host or guests (includes spoueses, former faculty etc.).
Since this is a limited group, I would like to get a reading on interest levels here.
Includes an event and a game thread.
What:
An evening of good food, good wine, music, and hopefully great conversation , hosted by Professor Samuel B. Griffith for friendly Hogwarts staff and associates.
Where:
The Alchemy classroom and the adjoining living quarters
When:
August 30th, two days before the students arrive in Hogwarts
Why:
Imagine this as a last huzzah before a term of responsibility and leadership for the hardened professionals who keep the school runnning.
The idea of this group of role models and virtuous wizards and witches getting wine-drunk and sharing stories of their wild days is very endearing to me.
I want to provide a light and carefree environment for colleagues to thread. We have quite a few new additions that would have the opportunity to meet everyone.
Also, that leads me to my game idea
The game:
I would like to get a group thread with a game of the ground that I call reminiscence.
Every post starts with the Phrase “That reminds me” and contains a story from their youth, preferably from school. Can be short and sweet.
The poster chooses one word to mark with bold and underline, which is the jumpoff point for the next person.
Example
Prof. Griffith:
“That reminds me”, said Professor Griffith, refilling the wine glass of the person seated next to him at the dinner table, “back in second grade I snuck down into the kitchen and convinced a houseelf that nothing would delight Professor Grinkeldunk more, than waking up to a row of fresh shepherds pies on the floor right next to his bed. For months, the man came to class with the smell of gravy wafting up from his feet, because he kept stepping into them.”
Next person:
“That reminds me, in fifth year Aloysius Bulstrode hit me so hard with the bludger that I feel off my broom and broke both my arms. That was not a fun night in the hospital wing”.
And so forth.
Let me know if you would like to be part of this event. You can also let me know if you think this is silly and your wizened wizard would never attend such a frivolity!
Cheers
