27th April, 1894 — Hogsmeade Memorial Assembly Rooms, Duelling tournament
This was Tyb’s thing – his office was, after all, Responsible – so he had to be on his best behaviour here, demonstrate utmost professionalism.
That was – considerably more difficult to achieve when one of the women he was judging was a friend. He had been stifling the temptation to laugh for the last few minutes, so intently that it probably looked as if he were trying not to breathe. But he went through the rules (shooting Rowan a quick raised eyebrow, as if she might be inclined to break them) and then settled properly into the task at hand, which required perfect equality of judgement.
And perhaps a little optional amusement.
“Mrs. Rowle, whenever you’re ready.”
