Fair and freckled, Algernon wouldn't draw much attention if not for his height. He stands at a head taller than most of his peers and shows no sign of slowing down anytime soon. His lankiness makes him feel self-conscious, so he opts for robes most of his time (or a least longer coats that envelop his frame). He has dark auburn hair, brown eyes, and pouty lips. He is particular about his grooming and always make sure his hair is styled neatly and his clothes unwrinkled. He is right-handed.History:
1882 | Algernon—soon dubbed "Algy" by his nursemaid—is born to his parents Henry and Seraphina Bythesea. He is shown off by hi father, has a distant mother, and is doted on by the household staff. He is a happy baby, albeit one who likes to make a lot of noise.Personality:
1884 | Algy is only two when he displays his first sign of magic: making his peas float during dinnertime.
1885 | Another son joins the Bythesea family. Algy is very fond of the infant and likes to watch him in his crib.
1886 | Algy is hit by his father for the first time after accidentally putting a croquet ball through an old family portrait. He is not seriously hurt, but he does begin to fear his father's wrath.
1888 | He begins his studies under the eye of a hired tutor. Algy is lucky to find that the gentleman is very patient and encourages his curiosity, though they have many long conversations about how easily he becomes distracted during their lessons. Algy proves to be a skilled writer for his age and an quick learner at logic-based games like chess. He has no patience for maths and other subjects that require no creativity.
1889 | Algy develops an affinity for creatures. He captures two garden gnomes and keeps them in his trunk, trying to convince them to become his minions. He fancies himself a gnome tamer until one of them bites his finger and he has to explain to the family nanny what happened. He gets beat by his father again. He still tries to befriend the gnomes afterwards (and even apologizes for keeping them captive!) to little success.
1891 | Algy befriends one of the neighboring children, who dies not two months later from dragonpox. Algy spends the next few weeks convinced it's his fault, going even so far as to write a defense letter to an imaginary magistrate in case he is arrested.
1892 | On his very first boat trip, Algy decides he would like to own one. He begs (and thankfully receives) a model ship for Christmas, which he spends the next few months convincing every adult around him to add little enchantments to.
1893 | A sudden change occurs in his family when his mother begins... acting different. She's always been distant, sometimes to the point where he forgets she's there, and now she's suddenly she's there and very talkative. And irritated. Everyone else seems to notice the changes, but he's distracted by the preparation for Hogwarts to read too much into them. He goes off to school in September, joining his elder sister.
Looks rather boring upon first glance. Prone to bouts of anxiety, but has mastered the art of masking his emotions. Chronic daydreamer. Imaginative, but not very introspective. Can find humor in anything. Smart, but takes little interest in traditional academics. Quick to make his mind up about people. Good-natured, generally—except on the occasion when he deems someone deserving of harshness, and then he doesn't see any reason to pretend to be nice. Straightforward.
