Ashley Allen
11 | WCMB | First Year Ravenclaw | British (Midlands)
If you're at Hogwarts and happen to stumble across a walking stack of books with legs, that's likely to be Ashley. Straight out of the cotton mills of Nottingham, this muggleborn has not a single clue -- but he's trying to figure it out. Initially, Ashley may come across as reserved or introverted due to being quiet and contemplative based on how he was raised. But don't let appearances fool you, this 11-year-old is as wild and energetic as any other once you get to know him. Ashley uses art as an escape or coping mechanism, so you may also find him sketching with charcoal.

• Friends! In addition to all the usual first year classes or Ravenclaw common room, Ashley's likely to be found in the library or the great hall.
  
  
• Enemies! He's a Mudblood and his family is so poor that he's only at Hogwarts because of the First Year Scholarship. Someone is surely not going to be happy with his being at Hogwarts. Probably multiple someones.
  
  
• Possible Connections! As a muggleborn, someone from either the Ministry or Hogwarts would have had to have come to retrieve Ashley from Nottingham, in order to explain the invitation to Hogwarts to his mother. That same someone (or maybe someone else, such as a prefect or older student?) would have had to have helped Ashley gather his materials and board the train to Hogwarts.

Welcome, Bounce! I have a couple contenders for you:

• In addition to being the History of Magic professor, Hamish Darrow usually does the "You're a wizard" speech for the muggleborns! He doesn't escort them to Hogwarts himself, but I do have prefects (including Abraxas Crabbe (the nicest of the crew) who would make sure he got on the correct platform if he got himself to King's Cross
  
• Louisa Weasley is a fellow first year—perhaps they could be paired on an assignment?
  
• I also have Euphemia Forsyte whose job is judging people and then fixing their deficiencies xD

My other prefects are Elijah Urquart (would entirely ignore him), Iphigenia Adebayo (who would discharge her duty but not a hair more) and Idunn Fraser (whose opinion is firmly tied to how not crap he is at his studies) xD

Welcome to the site. Best option I have for him at Hogwarts would be the Art Professor Terence Higgs . If Ashley took art in his first year, then he'll certainly know who he is. Terence is also Muggleborn though from a High Class family but he isn't biased against blood or class. (or anything really, rather open minded fellow). He can certainly help Ashley improve his artistic side, may even give opportunities for the future. Alll depends on how well they get to know each other and Ashley's artistic ability and passion.

Hello! I'll be honest, I love all three ideas, so I'd say I'm open to whichever you may have a particular energy for writing! I will say, I noticed the chess thread for male characters and was tempted to reach out as well as post in the sign-up thread, but then I noticed the essay one you posted a few hours ago and I figured I'd reply there.

Sloane is part of the flying club! If that's something that interests Ashley, but she'd be more than willing to do flying lessons, she'd be much better at that than school tutoring ha!

Mason is always available for extra help too!

Hi Bounce! I can offer Lucy Tatting. She's a fellow firstie. They'd probably have a lot in common, since Lucy spends a lot of her time with her nose in a book--though less because she's an avid reader and more because she wants to succeed at everything and studying is her current best avenue to do that. But she's also trying her hand at fashion designing, so she's reasonably artsy, too!

As mentioned in our PMs, I have Lincoln Dashwood who is shy, timid and a daydreamer with a knack for story-telling (as in the fantastical, fictional kind, not like claiming things he's done xD). His nose is always in books but more towards fantastical types.

Other students I have are:
Eros Mohr who is a Gryffindor in the year above him.
Nicodemus Dursley is a Ravenclaw in his fifth year and Quidditch Captain.
Paxton Fudge is a Hufflepuff in his fifth year.
Alcyone Slughorn is a Gryffindor in her sixth year.
Leander Hobday is a Slytherin Prefect in his sixth year. Always willing to help him out if he needs it. <3

Since Ashley's going to be getting some flying tutoring from a Gryffindor, if he hangs out with more of them it might seem like he got sorted into the wrong house :D

Lincoln seems fun, and might be a good reminder about reading not just being for study and homework. Nicodemus might be able to be a tutor in the common room for a kid struggling with Magical Theory? I imagine Eros and Ashley will likely cross paths in some of the 1st/2nd year class threads.
