Did You Know?
Braces, or suspenders, were almost universally worn due to the high cut of men's trousers. Belts did not become common until the 1920s. — MJ
Had it really come to this? Passing Charles Macmillan back and forth like an upright booby prize?

"It's a pleasure to make your acquaintance Mr. Ollivander." Febby smiled slowly, fingers still adoring the cat on the counter. "Oh Adonis, that fits, you handsome devil." She chuckled appreciatively. "My own cat is Andromeda, and she is your opposite in every way." The tiny kitten Febby had picked out to go to Hogwarts with was still little, with all black fur and green eyes.

Scratching beneath the kitty's chin once more, Febs eyed Mr. Ollivander in amusement. "You must get a lot if pretty brunettes in here if you think me so forgettable already." She was clearly teasing. "And it's February Lynch." A quiet snicker came from Mrs. H near the door, which had Febby stifling another chuckle. It was as if her housekeeper was encouraging her sometimes.

Gideon nodded as he listened to her talk about Adonis and then her own cat. He couldn't help but to smirk when she said her cat's name. "Another Greek mythology fan," he said with an appreciative tone, "I've a snowy owl named Calypso. She's actually quite enjoying the fog and doesn't rest in the shop much anymore." The snowy owl was probably out having a hay day with the toads falling from the sky.

"Unless you've an identical sister, I'm certain I'd never mistaken another pretty brunette for you," he said as he scrawled her name on the box and deposited the wand within it, "You've got them all beat." He smirked at her then before walking to the back quickly to put the wand away. "It was just the easiest way of getting your name," he said as he came back out front, glancing to the lady's companion and even going so far as to give the other woman a wink.

A coy smile curved Febby's lips. "Fancy that, I recently came into possession of a new owl and her name is Ianthe, which has Greek origins." Edric had nailed that one, Greek for "violet flower" which just happened to be her favorites. "I feel as though owls are all busy at the moment, the only means of communication we have outside this terrible fog." Ianthe was certainly busy between letters to Edric and Tuni today. At least they were both in London.

"That I do not, though my younger sisters do look a little like me." She mused aloud. "It was a very clever ploy Mr. Ollivander." She would give him that. The casual flattery helped. Right now it was just a lovely little ego boost as her attention was most certainly occupied elsewhere.

Gideon nodded with appreciation. Greek mythology was a favored subject of his. Though he did like most anything dealing with ancient history. It was always interesting to read about how the ancient wizards did things. But almost as if on cue, a bright white snowy owl fluttered in from the back and perched on the counter, receiving a look from the cat as if he thought his own pets from the girl were about to be taken away.

"I do pride myself on being rather clever," he ended up saying as he pulled up a couple of treats specifically for the owl and fed them to her, "And this is Calypso. You've met my whole family now."

What impeccable timing Mr. Ollivander's creatures had. "She's beautiful." Febs would have reached out to the owl like she had the cat, but had less of a good track record with the birds. Ianthe seemed to like her well enough, they were of a similar mindset anyway. Still, cats were much easier for her to get along with.

"Ah yes, everyone around me is either mythological or a month. So I have that going for me." February chuckled. At least it wasn't hard for her to know who belonged to her. The only exceptions were her parents and her friends, but pets and siblings were accounted for.

On a sigh, Febby resigned herself to heading home. "I won't take up any of your time then, Mr. Ollivander. I suppose I'll check back in when this ridiculous fog is gone?" What else could she really do?

Gideon listened as she spoke, nodding slightly wherever proper while idly petting the owl perched next to him. Calypso and Adonis both appeared quite content with the affections they were receiving and he couldn't help but to smile at the sight of them.

"That works well, Miss Lynch," he said when she said she'd return once the fog had cleared, "Once I'm able to work on your wand, I promise I will. Until then, I'll likely be doing little of anything with importance. Kind of hard to craft wands without magic after all." Though he supposed he could do some carving of the finer, more sturdy wands. An ornately carved handle brought in some extra money. He just didn't tend to have the extra time to do them, not to mention they weren't always the best of sellers thanks to the added cost.

"Thank you so much for your time, Mr. Ollivander. I admit I needed to get out of the house, though I wished under different circumstances, this was positively lovely." Some nice casual flirting to boost her ego, amusing Mrs. Harding, it all worked out. Not to mention her wand would be in good hands until she could get it back.

She could certainly understand the need for something to do with her time. "My next stop is the bookstore, so that I may have some entertainment to get me through this fog, so I can sympathize." Reading and writing letters, it was all she seemed to do these days!

Mrs. H sensed their departure and stood with a little effort, Febs highly suspected she may have dozed off. "Best of luck Mr. Ollivander, thank you again." With one last charming smile cast over her shoulder, Febs looped arms with Mrs. H and off they went.
