In-Character
Full Name: Raymond Theodore BorginNicknames: Ray
Birthdate: February, 9, 1878
Current Age: 10
Occupation: Child
Reputation: 8 [His father is a co-owner of a shady business.]
Residence: London
Hogwarts House: Unknown
Wand: None
Blood Status: Squib
Social Class: Working
Family:
Mr --- Borgin - [1812] - father
Mrs --- Borgin - [1850] - mother
Miss Beatrix Borgin - [1872] - sister
Appearance:
A short, pale boy with messy dark hair and green eyes, Raymond looks completely unremarkable. As his fashion is mostly determined by his family, he’s mostly seen in worn clothes of dull colors. He is right-handed.
History:
[1872] - Beatrix is born. A dark year for not yet born Raymond.
[1878] - Raymond is born. He is immediately loathed by his older sister, who makes a great effort to make his life miserable ever since. And also takes sweets that are rightfully his.
[1884] - Beatrix goes to Hogwarts, Raymond starts to appreciate life a bit more. His father introduces him to several purchasing agents, who share interesting stories about their cunning cons and daring thefts. The boy is fascinated.
[1886] - Raymond acquires the first “artifact” of his own - a spoon he steals from a local desserterie. This is soon followed by several more artifacts, but but none of them are as good as other things Raymond can play in the shop, such as human bones or scary masks.
[1887] - A young muggleborn wizard drops his diary when he leaves Borgin & Burkes, which he enters by mistake and gets too scared to notice the loss. Raymond picks the diary up, tears the used pages off, and claims it as his own, making notes there from time to time.
Personality:
Petty, stingy, secretive, selfish, somewhat melancholic.
Raymond understands that he might be a squib, and this makes him moody and easily irritated.
Being raised at Borgin & Burkes, Raymond sees nothing wrong in conning people into selling something cheap, so you can resell it later for a much greater price, telling the buyer a completely different story about the item in question. The same thing can be a “useless trinket” and a “relic of old” at the same time.
There is nothing wrong with Dark Arts either, in Raymond’s opinion. They only help the business thrive, as their bad reputation makes the niche less popular for competitors.
Other:
Knowledge: for his age, Raymond knows a lot about magical items, especially those connected to the Dark Arts.
Boggart: either angry father or especially mean sister, depending on Raymond's mood.
Sample Roleplay Post:
Thud.
Raymond aimed another kick at a small piece of roof slate in front of him, sending it another meter forward.
Thud.
His thoughts were far from happy. Soon, Trix would come back from Hogwarts, making his life even more miserable. And the weather was terrible, too, as Raymond much preferred sunless skies and heavy rains to this warmth and sunshine they now had in London.
Thud.
To escape all this, Raymond walked in the shadow of Diagon Alley buildings. Unfortunately, his last kick sent the slate piece into the sunlit part of the street. He sighed and leaned against a wall. This stroll only got progressively worse, and it was clearly a mistake to go outside at all.
