Appearance: Sylvia Shacklebolt is a pretty dark-skinned girl with shoulder-length black hair which is usually braided in a braid or bun, and dark brown doe eyes that dart around the pages of her textbook with purpose. Like the women in her family, she is tall and slim standing at five feet and six inches although she tends to look smaller than she is due to low self-esteem. Despite being a middle-class teetering to high-class witch, her clothing consists of plain and muted colors so she doesn't stand out at a gathering or ball.

History: 1873: Sylvia Shacklebolt is born to successful Lawyer Benjamin Shacklebolt and Healer and Former Singer Ruth Warbeck in Aberdeen, Scotland. She has an older sister and is second child from the union with three half-siblings from the past marriage. Her uncle Jerome is killed in action a few months later.

1876: A criminal apparates into their home from the holding cell in the Ministry building. He frantically searches for her father who proved he was guilty for murder. Startled, Sylvia's mother went into premature labor thus conceiving Josephine while held hostage. Thankfully, the man was sent back for the Dementor's Kiss and Josephine while sickly was safe and alive.

1878: At the age of four, Sylvia displays her first act of magic by riding and flying a moving wooden horse around the Muggle neighborhood. Within a month, the family moves to Hogsmeade to be closer to the rest of the Shacklebolts. Her half-brother Manoka is sent to Hogwarts and is sorted into Hufflepuff, to the shock and disappointment of their father.

1879: Kingsley Shacklebolt is born and is doted on by the rest of the girls, including young Sylvia. Her half-sister Eleanor is sent to Hogwarts.

1882: Her brother Ben graduates from Hogwarts with excellent marks and is accepted into the Auror Training program. Her sister Eugenie starts her first year at Hogwarts. Manoka sends Sylvia, Josephine, and Kingsley lots of joke candy. She is excited to go to Hogwarts and has high hopes about her experience at the school.

1884: A terrible and devastating year for all the Shacklebolts. Unfortunately, their staunch value and pride on remaining Pureblood turn against them as half of the family succumb to the Laughing Plague.  She and Josephine are struck with the malady later on, but unlike the others, they fight it thanks to the vaccine. Many died including her older half-brother Manoka, her four cousins, and her grandfather who was the first to catch the illness. After the funeral, she began to question why she was left alive instead of her brother and such thoughts lingered to the point where it rendered her unresponsive and guarded.

1885: Sylvia received her acceptance letter the day after her the anniversary of her brother's death, making her mope the entire month. She is sorted into Ravenclaw, which brought her much grief due to her two late cousins who were in the House. A clique of Pureblood girls who knew her due to familial connections try to befriend her and share their grief, but she ignores them causing a rift that still hasn't lifted to this day. During her time, she excelled in Transfiguration and Defense of the Dark Arts. As a result of pushing others away, her relationship with her family strains, thus causing her to pour herself into her studies. She receives decent marks in all of her classes but doesn't have many friends. Her half-sister Eleanor withdrew from Hogwarts to attend finishing school for proper witches.

1886: Being near her late half-brother as he took his last breath, she is able to see Thestrals who somewhat bring her a sense of calm. Eugenie also withdraws to attend finishing school. Half brother Ben is now a fully-fledged Auror.

1887: Her sister Josephine receives her letter to Hogwarts. Upon being sorted and settled in, she helps bring Sylvia out of her shell a little bit by her infectious laughter and natural popularity among the other first years. At Josie's behest, she joins the Transfiguration club and Frog choir, aquiring a few friends and acquaintances that year.

1889-1890: Sylvia is studying for the O.W.L.S, she is stuck between staying at Hogwarts or heading to finishing school. Meanwhile, her mother is trying to make matches for her and her sisters.

Other: The Shacklebolt family is a respected, higher middle-class Pureblood family who was formerly seen as aloof and closed off. They used to only associate themselves with pureblood African wizards and witches until the Laughing Plague took half of their family members, causing them to bond with the United Kingdom wizarding community due to shared traumatic experiences. Now, the members are doing their best to secure both wealth and social ties by making as many matches as they can with their sons and daughters.

They're known for being tall, sleek, beautiful, courageous, and intelligent with most members having been sorted into Ravenclaw. Like many talented wizards, they can all perform wandless magic with the exception of the younger children. The males in the family usually venture into the Ministry and Law Enforcement, specifically the Auror position. The family is new to the Pureblood social circle and are regarded as 'nice but boring, guarded, and arrogant'.

A couple who were occupied bowed to her and departed from their place on one of the benches. The pie-eyed one paid them no mind as she came to a halt, bumping into her lady-in waiting Wren Serrett in the process. The stuffy feeling that lingered after sobbing in Lord Marbrand's tunic arrived misinterpreted as well as the time of day. "Oh, it's so torrid out here! And at nightfall!" She complained, fanning her face from the flames that tormented her.

Wandering over to a bench near the fountain, she plucked a large leaf from one of the bushes whilst turning to Wren. "Why must day be filled with dusk and gloom!?" She pouted, fanning herself with the leaf once beads of sweat from her roots rolled over her severely flushed face and bloodshot blue-green eyes. Tilting her head up to glance at the night sky she thought was day, she shifted her gaze back to the fellow blonde. "Do you think the Winter may come back, lady Wren???" The four-and ten one inquired with wide eyes, taking a seat at the bench and tapping the spot next to her.
