Adam was, frankly, a little annoyed to be out at the moment. The fact that he was going through the training for a second time meant that the instructors knew him better than the other students, but that familiarity never translated to anything beneficial for him. Adam didn't expect special treatment from the instructors, by any stretch of the imagination, and he didn't even mind when they went a little harder on him than the other students. He did mind, however, when they asked him to run errands for him — even though the errand was, he supposed, related to the training program.
(In fairness, this was the first time he'd been asked to do it, but he was annoyed all the same).
He checked the list again, going through the titles. Poisons and their Antidotes, 50 Plant-Based Ways to Die, Beyond Bezoars... The least the instructor could have done was put them in some sort of order. Adam was busy referencing the list against the stack of books in his arms when another man nearly bowled him over.
"Well, no harm done," he said amiably — though he would have been far less amiable had the pile of books ended up scattered across the floor.
