A dementor. Who in their bloody right mind had even seen one at this age yet?! Basil himself was startled as the thing came swooshing out of the trees, a boggart no doubt, and not a ridiculous one by any means. The students were quick to action and he was proud to see some of the gentlemen step up to take charge. Well bred and well mannered. Professor [Etiquette] would be proud.

Gus managed the thing in an efficient swoop (a knight in shining armour himself) before any of the students could come to harm. It would seem a few had a thing or two to learn about identifying a boggart upon first glance and dealing with it themselves. When Mr. Whymper finally handed Gus a small box, Basil crossed his arms over his chest and smiled. "Well done, Mr. Whymper," he condoned. "Now let's see which one of you can find a flag and start earning some house points." They only had so much time out here before the real dangers deeper in the forest began to stir from the commotion. Better to get moving.
