Appearance:
The half inch doesn’t really count, but she is just slightly taller than Tess at 5’ 7 ½”. Her figure is somewhat rounded out, bouncing back enough that her hidden pregnancy wasn’t distinguishable from her previously already curvaceous figure. Sage has the kind of curves that are especially accentuated by her corset, though her form is still rather strong from her work. She carries herself with confidence, especially on the job. Sage is quick to smile and laughs with her whole body, she most often wears her heart and her expressions on her sleeve. Her honey-blonde hair wavers between darker shades in the winter and brighter in the summer sunshine. It is most often pulled back in a no-nonsense style at the back so it is out of her face. It is naturally wavy and hangs past her shoulder blades when down. Blue-grey eyes are observant and kind, always looking out for others and their best interests.

Her wardrobe is typical of her station, plain in color and fabric; she’s never been one to like any sort of limelight and so does not aim to stand out. If given the choice however, she does like cooler colors, blues and greens. She is right-handed for writing and wandwork.

History:
1868
Sage Harper joins sister Tess in an uncomplicated birth that tends to trend throughout her childhood.
1869-1880
Childhood
Sisters are added in regular intervals much to Sage's delight. 1877 sees the family moving to Hogsmeade along with much of the magical community Devastatingly, family additions come to an end with Amber’s birth and her mother’s death. With Tess off at school, during much of this transition, Sage tries to step up and fill in as best she can, both for her father’s sake and her sisters. Her grief is deep and silent, locked tight in her chest, doing her best to keep it together and be the reliable one.
1880-1885
Hogwarts
More guilt over the fact that the beginning of her education is the end of Tess’ and it instills a deep determination to make something of herself  using the education she is afforded. She is sorted swifty into Hufflepuff where she finds herself surrounded by like-minded folks. It’s not quite the close-knit family she is used to at home with her sisters, but it will do. Saffy joins her in 1882 and is sorted into Ravenclaw. Sage excels in classes that are more hands-on, never having been that typically book smart sort. Potions and charms are her favorites, though she also enjoys transfiguration. Her elective is kept to one, adding just arithmancy because it sounded interesting (it was decidedly not). Her OWL results come in, leaving her at a place to head to the hospital as intended, taking on a trainee mediwitch position. Her grades were good enough to continue on, but she knows her help is needed more at home.
1885-1886
Training
Fortunately having a later birthday does her a favor this time, as the end of her formal schooling and her training mean she turns seventeen shortly into her internship, though she spends copious amounts of time shadowing a seasoned mediwizard before feeling ready to move up.
1887-1889
Decisive, nurturing and quick on her feet, Sage grows into a confident and competent mediwitch, handling Hogsmeade disasters as they come and go and helping out around the print shop when needed.
1890
Uh Oh…
Sage had always considered herself just that; wise and focused on her work and her family. That is of course, until she finds herself entangled with one LOCKLYN MACCOINNICH. Called to take care of an injury as collateral to a case of accidental magic, Sage is subtly charmed and resists as long as she can. He’s charismatic and she secretly enjoys the attention. Things turn physical, much to her later regret. It doesn’t take long for Sage to discover she is with child. This obviously  creates several complications. She is unmarried, they are of different statesions, their entanglement is meant to be casual.

The first thing she does is end the connection. Next, she confides in Tess what’s happened. There is no way she can handle this on her own, she will need her family’s help to contain the situation. The pregnancy is hidden for as long as physically possible, well past halfway with some creative clothing arrangements and the fact that her figure naturally camouflages the life growing within. When it becomes obvious, Sage has to take a leave of absence from the hospital under a “serious illness” that keeps her confined. The whole thing drives her absolutely crazy, but she can’t risk the family being brought into her scandal. At last the baby arrives later in the year, an early Christmas present… for a deserving couple who had always wanted children but could never have them. Fortunately they are not local, a relative of a friend of a cousin, or some such, but it truly doesn’t make it any easier on Sage. Towards the end she had truly considered keeping the baby, a wee little girl, with bright blue eyes and a tuft of blonde hair. It wasn’t meant to be, there is too much at stake and she needs to be present for her natal family without adding to the stress… the last thing Sage does is write a letter to her daughter and gives it to the mother, on the promise that if it ever comes up, that the little girl is given it. It provides Sage a little bit of closure, but little consolation.
1891-1892
Back to It
Much to her immense relief, her position at the hospital is waiting for her and she dives back into work, taking extra shifts and collecting as much of her pay as she can to make up for the time she missed.
1893
Her father falls ill and in the beginning Sage does her best to treat him, but it becomes a problem far beyond her capabilities. She does her best to attend to him under the direction of those more qualified than she is, but ultimately her father succumbs to his illness in November and the family is once again thrust into mourning. Tess takes over the print shop, everybody does the best they can, and Sage uses work as her escape. The odd hours, continuous need and exhausting nature of her job keep her afloat, even if once again, she is heartbroken.
1894
Present
Busy is about all Sage has time for, between her shifts at the hospital, helping as much as she can with the print shop and her sisters, she is holding it together as best she can. She puts on a happy face and outwardly appears fine, but it’s a storm bubbling under the surface at all times.

Personality:
STEADFAST | PATIENT | RESPONSIBLE

A truer Hufflepuff would be harder to find than Sage Whitby. She is patient, loyal and unafraid of hard work; in fact it is all she has ever known. Helping to raise sisters, studying for her future, owning up to her mistakes and doing what she thought was best. In her youth she was bubbly and outgoing, friendly to everyone around her. On the job she is quick-witted, confident and competent, unafraid of the toils that come along with her chosen profession. Underneath it all, she feels a little lost, like something is missing and while she knows she did the right thing by her daughter, it is hard to cope sometimes. Work keeps her busy and exhausted and that is all she can ask for these days.
