While at the initial appearance, wandless magic can appear intimidating, it can hardly be considered useless. In fact wandless work would be useful in a great deal of vocations. Take for instance the housekeeper. She is charged with maintaining a house. If there is an accident in the house, would she not be more affective at her job if she did not need to reach for her wand but instead could use wandless magic? Or in an auror were caught unawares while on a mission, it might save his life to use wandless magic than to reach for his wand. Perhaps the more difficult task, then, would be to elaborate on how wandless magic might hinder its own usefulness.
Because of the lack training in wandless magic here in Britain, it often proves dangerous to use wandless magic. We use wands to channel our magic to prevent accidents, like those we see in young children, from happening. If the housekeeper from my previous example, were to try to use wandless magic to charm the cleaning water she might accidently explode it. If it were boiling water this might even cause lasting damage to anyone it might land on. Or take for instance the auror mentioned above, if he did not properly channel his wandless magic when he cast the levitation charm it might backfire and find himself levitated placing him in even grater danger.
While wandless magic can certainly be useful it must then be treated with great caution and not used unless it has been mastered.
