Did You Know?
Braces, or suspenders, were almost universally worn due to the high cut of men's trousers. Belts did not become common until the 1920s. — MJ

Charms Are Useful [Beginner Charms Assignment]
#1
It was time to give his beginner level students their first assignment, and while this might disappoint them Ellsworth was gleeful at the notion of what such unformed minds.

In 100 words please consider how Charms can be used in every day life. Be creative and have fun with this assignment. House points will be given for the best in three categories: creativeness, thought provoking, and ridiculousness. Please note that house points may also be taken for complete rubbish assignments and for ridiculousness. What's life without a bit of risk? ;) This assignment will be due mid November, with (hopefully) a seminar class posted up at that time, and OOC at the end of November. Late work will be accepted.

Charms are very important to me in everyday life because of how they make it easier for me to be independent and not have to rely so much on my family because of my disabilities. For example, in order to write this essay, I depend on a quill that is charmed to write down everything I say to it. It even knows when to scratch things out, like this. Also, in order to read what’s written in my books, I know a charm that changes the words to braille or even read out loud to me! I also have a wheelchair that is charmed so that it can float over stairs if I need it to help me get around Hogwarts. But, that’s not all! It also has a shrinking charm on it so when activated, it can be stored out of the way when I don’t need it. In conclusion, I don’t think I would be able to attend Hogwarts and be successful without the usage of charms.

Toby's assignment has been scrawled at the top of his notes, hastily as Professor Ruskin asks for it to be handed in. It has been forgotten about until now and is nowhere near done or thought out.

Charms would be very useful in a stage production of The Tempest. The affects of the storm and of Prospero's magic would be much more realistic. Perhaps a muggle who knew the truth about wizards inspired this play?

Toby's assignment will not be graded.

The Everyday Charm: Magic in Daily Life

Charms, those nifty spells we learn in class, are like the secret helpers in our daily routine. They're not just about making things float or fixing stuff; they’re our magical buddies making life easier! Take chores, for instance. Charms help tidy up our messes in a flick, mend torn things, or even light up the dark corners.

But being a proper young lady isn’t just about doing chores—it's also about shining in society. Charms are a big help there too! Levitating outfits for the perfect fold or a little spell to freshen up, they’re like your backstage crew for looking your best. And in conversations, a charm can add that spark of fun or wit.

For someone like me, being part of a respected family, charms aren’t just about doing tricks. They’re tools for showing grace and being polite. They help me blend in and make friends without showing off too much magic. Using charms in a ladylike way isn’t just about what you do; it’s about doing it with style.

So, charms? They're not just spells; they're like having a bunch of friendly magic helpers making life a bit more enchanting!
