Mr. Nearly Old,
How lucky! You see, that was my theory. I fancied it impossible for anyone to remain truly entertaining beyond the age of twenty-seven. At twenty-seven, one is nearly thirty, and at thirty one may as well be dead.
(In fact, I think that is a myth drilled more into the heads of young women – but you may as well be my test subject of the theory. Now you really must keep writing to me to prove yourself, else I shall have to write you off as old and tedious.)
What are you planning to do to celebrate your birthday? It had better be something wild and entertaining!
Miss Amusement
