Appearance:

In her youth, Ziya was a little slimmer, carried her weight in all of the right places. Motherhood has softened her edges and created a more voluptuous silhouette on her short frame. She has always held a warm and welcoming aura, even during the darker parts of her history— at least in public. With golden skin, dark hair and eyes, she is an exotic beauty that is nearly as striking as her personality. The last couple of years have brought back some of the light and she is more talkative and gregarious. She has dressed in black for far too long and is excited to get back to the bright jewel tones and reds she is so fond of. She is right handed.

History:

A Girl 1850	How disappointing. The first child born is a girl and her arrival is unceremoniously dumped onto a nanny to be cared for. She will be joined next by a brother and a couple of other siblings across her childhood, but she isn’t particularly close to them.
Childhood It’s Nothing Special	Zi is a quick learner both academically and socially. She understands quickly to stay out from under her father’s feet and away from her mother when she is doting on her brother. It forms a bit of a rift among the siblings, though Zi does best with her sister, despite an age gap. She is quick-witted and sharp-tongued but is smart enough to keep it to herself most of the time. Ziya shows an aptitude for mathematics and languages, though she is dismayed that her own parents do not speak their own native language! She begs to learn as many as she can during her tutelage with a governess.
Hogwarts 1861 - 1868	It is a shock, that upon the summer after her eleventh birthday, Ziya and her parents are greeted by a stranger in even stranger clothes announcing that Ziya has a place at a school for witches, a boarding school at that. After much debate, she is allowed to attend, on the condition that she obviously does not tell anyone. Finally something that is hers to look forward to! She is swiftly sorted into Ravenclaw and eats up everything she possibly can from Astronomy (which she adores) to Potions (which is good at, but doesn’t love). During her OWLs she decides she wishes to become a healer in her post-graduate life and sets herself up with all of the appropriate classes to do so. She graduates with all of the required NEWTs and excellent marks, leaving her with an internship at St. Mungo’s. She does debut, but at the Hogwarts event, as her parents are not particularly keen on ushering her into society now.
Internship 1868-1869	There are several wards that interest her, but she settled on Potion and Plant Poisoning. It feels like it is a good challenge, considering her exemplary marks in both herbology and potions.
Healing 1869 - 1878	Ziya spends the better part of a decade helping those in need. She has proved herself to be a capable healer and demonstrates professionalism in spades. This is the purpose and sense of belonging she has longed for her entire life and she is more than content to head toward spinsterhood as long as she has her passion.
Him 1878	She was content, so content, thriving even, until she met him. A generic ball, how cliche, she’d attended on a whim, but there he was, Robin Rowle, bursting into her life like a hurricane and tearing down everything she’d built over the last ten years. It wasn’t meant to be, she knew that— blood purity was the only obstacle, but one they could not overcome the traditional way. But they had a plan to elope in secret. The date set, the plan revised and rehearsed, but he never showed. Grief-stricken and heartbroken, she reaches out, only for there to be absolutely no reply. It wouldn’t be a problem, except for the fact that their celebrations had gotten carried away and she was already carrying his child. A backup plan is concocted through a mutual acquaintance at the hospital. Mr. Burroughs is at an age past where he should have married and will take her quickly. Their courtship is strict and intense, quick and the pair marry after just a few short weeks.
Marriage The Nightmare Begins	Ziya’s sweet Wren is born in late 1879. Despite the betrayal, she chooses an avian name to show some connection to her biological father, even though she would likely never know him. This year would also mark something far more sinister in her life. Warren is also displeased that the child is a girl, though Ziya had covered up the situation well enough to have him believing the child is his. He had been standoffish and somewhat cold thus far, but after Wren’s birth he turned downright nasty and abusive. It is, at first, just verbal, all sorts of insults about her capabilities, her usefulness, why did he marry her. It is mostly when he drinks, and he is apologetic and sweet when sober, but she is made to quit the hospital and after her convalescence from Wren’s birth, things turn physical. Over the next decade and half, she births three more children (often against her wishes) and spends her time shielding them from the vicious abuse, praying he never turns his rage towards the children. It is shortly after Lilibet’s fifth birthday, a brutal attack that Wren witnesses, that Ziya has had enough. She fears for her life and that of her children. She is a shell of the person she used to be and with no family to lean on, she takes matters into her own hands.
Murder 1891	Her extensive knowledge of plants and potions allows her to slowly poison Warren to death. It is at first considered an illness; then a symptom of the drink, the entire staff knows about the booze and abuse, but also fear the head of the house. The final dose sends him into cardiac arrest and he dies quietly in his sleep with Ziya sleeping peacefully in her room down the hall. Nobody really questions it, though the abuse is disclosed to Warren's eldest brother, who is now in charge of the estate. He allows Ziya a healthy allowance and promises to take care of the family financially using Warren's accounts.
Mourning 1891 - 1893	Ziya plays the part of mourning widow down to the last detail. The colors, the house, the dresses, everything. She is finally free again and nobody will ever do that to her if she has anything to say about it.

Ziya has mastered the art of saving face. She can mask her emotions with a definitive confidence that betrays nothing of what she is actually feeling. Passionate and compassionate, she used to relish in her work, now she strives to be the best mother she could possibly be; her children are her world and though she misses the hospital, she chooses to look forward instead of back. Life has led her to rely on no one and she is hard-pressed to ask for help. She can be stubborn and unforgiving when the time calls for it.
