Appearance: [Ophelia is 5 ft. 2in. and has an average build - she is neither slender not fat. She is right-handed and will have much trouble if forced to cast any spells with her left hand. She is immensely proud of her auburn-brown hair and hazel eyes - noticing the red glint in her mostly brown locks is bound to win you an impressed compliment or two.]
History: [
1875 - Ophelia is born to Anne Bennett. The birth is much celebrated in the family's Muggle neighborhood, but the Bennett family holds their breath, waiting for the girl to display her first sign of magic.
1877 - Queen Victoria's crusade against wizardkind begins. Ever careful to hide their magic, the Bennett family is safe ...for a while. As more and more of the magic community begins to go into hiding, Agatha Hill has a vision of an angry mob outside their house, chanting slurs and throwing stones. Fearful for their safety, the Bennetts relocate to the newly created Hogsmeade.
1884- The Laughing Plague takes the life of Ernest Frasier, Ophelia's grandfather.
The Bennett home is only moderately damaged by the Wellingtonshire/High Street fire, but neighbors Francis "Fran" Gladstone (formerly Francis Wright) and Dorian Gladstone lose their home to the blaze. They are welcomed into the Bennett house to stay until they can rebuild their own.
1886 - Ophelia is accepted into Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. She is sorted into Slytherin, much to the chagrin of both her Ravenclaw parents. However, she greatly enjoys her first year and fortunately proves to share her parents' joy of learning.
1887 - As a human witch, Ophelia is unaffected by the half-breed ban and returns to Hogwarts. As such, she is not present in Hogsmeade during Reconciliation Day or the World Market pavilion collapse.]
Personality: [Although prejudiced and judgmental due to her upper-class status, Ophelia is a very curious, witty girl who loves exploration and riddles. She can come across as cold-hearted due to her startling lack of patience with and empathy towards lazy or delinquent students, but to those that earn her respect she is always empathetic and helpful.]
Other: [Ophelia's ability is still developing; she has yet to experience her first vision. (OOC: might rp this) Currently, it manifests itself as an uncanny feeling - her assumptions might prove themselves true a bit too often, or she might a strange feeling that something will go wrong. She might wander into the right place at the right time, or duck just in time to avoid a flying rock thrown from behind. Well-matched with her thunderbird tail feather wand (a core known for being "able to sense danger" and "fire curses pre-emptively when supernatural dangers are present", little Ophelia is certainly a force to be reckoned with.]
Sample Roleplay Post: [Ophelia dashed through the halls, her robes fluttering behind her. A stern reproach shouted by a passing prefect barely registered in her mind as she scampered past rows of cold statues and gossiping paintings. In her pale fingers was a crumpled letter, peculiar in that it contained no signature.
It could have been a simple mistake - an act of carelessness on the part of the sender, but something about the lack of details - the simpleness of the request to rendezvous in the courtyard intrigued her. It reminded the girl somewhat of all those secret meetings before revolutions and romances - the stuff of penny-dreadfuls that she would turn her nose up at in public, but beg her parents to let her read in the privacy of her dressing-room. The brisk January air adorned her warm breath with lacy strips of white ribbon that disintegrated quickly into the wind as she stepped out into the courtyard. Adjusting the bundle of heather she had pinned into her updo, she planted herself firmly onto a bench and began to make half-hearted attempts to not appear bored as she anxiously awaited the arrival of the strange note's author.]
