Appearance:
The best way to describe Tobias is haphazard. He is often in some form of disheveled attire from his work and running his hand through his probably-too-long chestnut hair. Often sporting facial hair, is is more because of forgetfulness than care one way or another. He is fairly tall, standing at 5’11”, broad in the shoulder, but lean muscle everywhere else. The most notable thing about him are his bright blue eyes. Watchful and observant, Tobias sees more than he lets on, but keeps his expressions locked down tight. Neutral in many respects, it is hard to get him to affect any true feelings through his features. When he does smile it is lopsided, but genuine and reaches his eyes thoroughly. More tan than any man who spends copious amounts of time inside should be, his natural complexion is that of his mother’s family rather than his father’s. Tobias carries himself in a perpetual slouch, possibly from being bent over a workbench day-in and day-out more than from actual habit. He is right-handed.

1860
ChildhoodTobias Everard is born the second child and first son to Graham and Annette Ollivander. A welcome addition to the family, he is followed by two sisters five and eight years later. His childhood is largely unremarkable. His family resides just outside of Edinburgh and enjoy the success of the Ollivander name quietly. His father, though not quite as well-known as his uncle, does participate in the family trade, though often only works on specialty wands for those with specific tastes. They travel in the summers as a family to source different woods and wand core ingredients which instills a love of the craft in Tobias at an early age. 1871-1878
HogwartsMuch like his childhood, Hogwarts is nothing to write home home about. Sorted into Ravenclaw, Tobias settles into a quiet, studious education devoid of too much drama or excitement. He neither tries out for quidditch, nor is appointed any student staff positions, but he does remarkably well in his classes, enjoying Charms, Potions and Transfiguration most of all. Tobias is a quick study and does offer tutoring help in Charms, which is truly his best subject and something he plans to utilize to continue the family craft in wandmaking. Herbology is also of special interest to him, as Tobias wants to know all of the ins and outs of wand materials, from the wood, to the cores, to the charms placed upon them. He takes quite a bit of classes throughout OWLs and NEWTs but without much of a social life to speak of, he has plenty to keep himself occupied. He graduates with exceptional marks in many of his preferred classes and takes these home to Edinburgh to begin his apprenticeship. 1877-1880
Upheaval & ApprenticeshipWith the collapse of the magical world around the Queen Victoria debacle, this branch of the Ollivanders stays quiet, keeping their little cottage wandmaking business secret so they do not have to relocate like many other families have chosen to do. 1880-1894
The World at LargeThe desire to take a much deeper dive into wandmaking sees Tobias taking off to various parts of the world to see how other wandmakers hone their craft. He starts in Africa, learning from those who tend to perform wandless magic and the connection to their wands and the fascinating plants and creatures from which they make their cores. He then moves to the middle and finally far East to learn their ancient philosophies on woods and cores, staying the longest, even through the death of his uncle in 1884. He finally relocates to the States, specifically to learn from the Native tribes who have been using magic for longer than most. It is here he finds himself at ease, learning about the trees and practices on wands choosing wizards. Tobias has always been intrigued by the seemingly-sentient nature of wands and though he knows how to create and craft them, the theory of it all is what enthralls him the most. 1894
Homeward BoundAfter nearly a decade and a half of travel, research and crafting, Tobias heads home to Scotland. He has missed a lot, graduations, weddings, births, but it is his mother’s declining health that sees him making the trek back. After what is apparently an influx of needed wands for a large class of first years, Tobias offers to help his cousins at the stores, bouncing between Diagon Alley and Hogsmeade, wherever he is needed, though he takes up residence in the Alley in a small rented flat, too accustomed to living on his own to live at home. Thankfully it is just a quick floo trip home if he is needed. For now he is content to continue to make wands and fiddle with different combinations and cores and continue his research on the craft.
STEADFAST | ACADEMIC | THOUGHTFUL
Tobias is a quiet creature of habit. His personality is quirky; introverted, but willing to discuss wandlore. A scholar through and through, he can often be single-minded if he is on the hunt for information. That said, it is easy to get him off on a tangent both in conversation and in research and he will go down the rabbit hole for days if allowed. His social skills are not entirely lacking, it is more than he has spent a lot of time abroad surveying other customs and cultures and tends to blend them together. The longer he is home, the better he will get and he is self-aware that he can often misstep, but is polite and reserved in company mostly out of self-preservation. He has few friends, but those who have stuck by him will find a loyal friend willing to help in any way. While not shy, he is slow to warm up and can come across as snobbish or stubborn, but he is the kind of person who needs information before acting and that applies in social situations as well as every other aspect of his life.
