But he is always in motion, always smiling, and slouches quite a bit so he tends to come off more as approachable. He usually has a tan from from being outside because he feels cooped up when he is inside. His clothing is usually muggle simply because wizarding robes get in the way but he is always a bit dishelved. His blond hair is always a smidge too long and is always messy although he keeps his beard nicely trimmed. His wand hand is his right.

History: Bert Plunkett met his wife on a trip to the American plains to discover how to grow successful American crops. Betty lived in a small town on American frontier. It was love at first site, or maybe lust, we’ll leave that up to the reader. When Bert’s trip was nearing it’s close it was discovered that Betty was carrying his child. So with a great fuss in her town (something Bert’s thoroughly British family made sure did not make it across the pond) Bert was forced to marry Betty. He brought Betty back home with him where he made quick work of taking over the family farm. In 1860 the couple greeted their first son, Hugh.
It seemed that this young family was quite happy, although news from back home at Betty anxious. She threw herself into expanding the products the farm produced beyond simply the average. Her first idea was beehives for honey. Around this time Betty found out she was pregnant with her second child and in January of 1862 Alfred was born. It took all of a day for his name to be shorted to Fred. Fred was a loud baby. As soon as he learned to walk he was running. He was always getting into trouble and Betty had a tough time keeping up with him as she found herself already pregnant again. In July of 1863 she had her third son, Declan. Fred took to Declan instantly, constantly spending time with him, often crawling into his crib with him, sharing their meager toys with him. Betty was a bit concerned that her toddler would harm the baby and so she often sent him out into the fields with his father. Then to add to the cacophony a fourth boy is born the fall of 1864. Fred takes him under his wing as well, although he doesn’t try to climb on the poor baby as much.
For a little their lives seem to settle down, the family a perfectly respectable size, thank you very much. Fred is always moving, always setting up games for his brothers, always trying to be the ringleader. He loves to make his family laugh and loves to get his hands dirty. Problem is he has so much energy know one really knows what to do with him. Not that Betty finds she actually has the time to dwell on it since, guess what, four boys simply was not enough and in 1866 she gives birth to her final child, Cole.
Over the next several years Fred is a happy scamp, learning his father’s trade and causing mayhem on the farm. Betty and Bert find the best way to channel this energy is to teach him new things. Betty teaches her boys their lessons, the bible, and life skills such as mending and darning. She teaches them to knit, something that Fred does surprisingly well with - as long as he’s also able to talk. Bert teaches them how to tend the animals and work the fields. Fred is constantly trying to abscond to ride their horse, which is his absolute favorite thing to do. At the age of seven Fred shows his first sign of magic when he causes a spontaneous rainstorm to flood out the pumpkin patch when he’s asked to water the plants. In the summer of 1870 to spend time with her parents. Grandpa — teaches Fred the fiddle and he’s a natural with it. It focuses him in a way nothing else does and while the first few months of his playing can only be categorized as agonizing for anyone beyond Fred it doesn’t take him long to actually play it well.
The boys begin starting off to Hogwarts with Hugh in 1871. Fred hates not having Hugh around to tease but loves that he is the oldest at home. In 1873 Fred heads off to Hogwarts where he desperately misses his younger brothers. He is sorted into Gryffindor and while well intentioned, prefers socializing or daydreaming to paying attention in class. Outside of class he is much more interested in clubs and activities - particularly quidditch - to be bothered with studying. Declan joins him at Hogwarts in 1874 and is sorted into Hufflepuff. Fred starts his OWL levels as Larkin starts Hogwarts in 1875, he picks Care of Magical Creatures (figuring he has some experience in that) and Earth Magic. Cole joins the rest of them at Hogwarts in 1876 While Fred loves Quidditch is only a passable player and as such never makes the house team but does enjoy club quidditch. After his dismal performance during OWL exams his family supports his decision to end his schooling in 1877.
Ah 1877, the wizarding world dissolves into chaos. The Plunkett family had always lived well in a muggle community, but when their nature is discovered their family is suddenly targeted. Bert wastes no time in moving the family to Hogsmeade with the rest of the wizarding refugees. Spotting a need Bert opens Plunkett General Goods on High Street while he also buys a plot of land on the far east end of High Street. This forested land he turns into a farm with the help of Hugh and Fred. It’s a good thing Fred has no ambitions because he is needed around the farm and the store. In these early years Betty is often the one managing the store while the boys work the farm, but as their business grows they are able to employee more individuals to help at the store. It quickly becomes apparent that while Fred is wonderful at selling goods he tends to be too impulsive to actually be much help at the store. The first few years of the farm and store go well. Betty keeps finding ways to expand the store and implementing them, making their own wool from sheep, cheese from cows, honey from the bees she insisted they bring with them. At the age of 18 Fred believes his family is doing so well he can open his own furniture shop, which he does have some skill in. And while he does have skill and the drive, going so far as to build a carpentry shed and start some pieces, he quickly becomes bored and abandons the whole venture. Declan ends up taking over his venture. Over the years this becomes a trend, Fred dreams up a big idea, puts it in motion, and then abandons it leaving one of his younger brothers to take up the hobby or idea in his stead. Such ideas include: horse racing, wine making, cheese making, leather working, barn dances. In fact his idea for a barn dance becomes an annual event with the success of the first one in the fall of 1880.
Life falls into a pleasant rhythm for Fred as he devotes the next decade of his life to helping his family. His brothers return to the farm. The business grows. He flirts with the ladies and generally enjoys life. Before he knows it he is thirty and his father is starting to seem old. Worried for their father’s health Hugh begins to take over more and more duties for their father on the farm and between him and Betty they try to encourage him to spend more time running the general store. The old man is persistent that he’d rather be on the farm but even they can see the walk to the store and back takes him longer and longer each time. Betty constantly is looking to marry off her sons before they cause a scandal. Preferably to one of the Potts girls as they’ve been so close to the family over the years. Fred hasn’t really thought too much about settling down, he’s had his own rolls in the hay over the years with no repercussion so why should he. Now Hugh is demanding he grow up, Betty is trying to find him a wife, and Fred is left completely baffled as to when he grew up.
