Did You Know?
Braces, or suspenders, were almost universally worn due to the high cut of men's trousers. Belts did not become common until the 1920s. — MJ
Had it really come to this? Passing Charles Macmillan back and forth like an upright booby prize?

Cam,

Did you see the Prophet yesterday?! They're allowing bludgers back into school matches! You'll be able to play normally again! I hope they make all of the beaters try out again after the year off though. You don't think they'll reinstate Selwyn as captain do you? So far the only downside I can see for the team. Hopefully everything works out in the long run!
Fondly,
Sloane

Sloane,

I heard. It was dreadfully boring playing without them last year. I can't decide if Headmaster Black intends for us to play as if the bludgers never disappeared or if they intend to foul the beaters more often out of fear that they'll hurt someone. Somehow I'm not sure the headmaster cares that much.

I don't think they'll reinstate him. They gave everyone a chance to tryout last year and he didn't even show up! I don't think we'll have to worry about it—and maybe the return of the bludgers will bring out the students who didn't tryout last year.

Anyways, how has your summer been? I miss seeing you every day.

Yours always,
Cam

Cam,

I don't think he had much to do with it. Looks like to school board made the decision. I'm sure if they can make professional stands safer they can do the same to the school ones as well. I'll be comfy cozy watching from the stands without a care.

That's true. I would hope they would follow that since it's what they've already. I always like seeing what kind of talent the new students bring in. I'm sure you'll find fitting replacements.

Summer has been alright. Got stuck in that crazy hedge maze with Alice last week. Then I went to visit Miss Fudge at the Sandition for a day to see the zoo. Not sure which was more of an adventure. Drastically different situations. I have plans to see Moony Saturday next to do some odd jobs for his neighbor who is a metamorphmagus. She's going to trade me a lesson or two for the work. It is weird not seeing everyone every day, but I see Calla more often than not, but we've always been like that since we were little.

How's the summer in Irvingly so far?

Sloane

Sloane,

Sounds like your summer’s been more eventful than mine. Mother’s been more insistent that we do things together as a family, but seeing as she’s a muggle most of the stuff we’ve been done hasn’t been too magical. I’ve been practicing quidditch when I can—Mr. Bell takes Maddy, Oak, and I out on occasions. Oak will be joining us at school next year, too, so he’s been the center of attention. I don’t mind much. I’m excited he’s coming.

I’ll be in Hogsmeade this week if you can find a way to get out. We could go to the Park or something.

Fondly,
Cam

Cam,

You know me, I don't stop, ever. Being bored is dangerous.

I forgot Oak will be as first year next year! Everyone else's younger siblings all making their way in. It's wild.

We're actually leaving tomorrow to go visit some family in the Aran Islands for almost a week. I think we'll be back on the first, I'm sorry! Maybe it can get mum to take me to the zoo in Irvingly after we get back? I want to talk to the magizoologists there about what classes I need to focus on at school.

Would that work?
Fondly,
Sloane

Sloane,

Boredom is dangerous, which is why I'll need to bug everyone else while you're away. I think my mother's sick and tired of my restlessness; I haven't gone anywhere exciting or done anything out of the ordinary, and after last summer I think my mind expects more excitement.

The Arran Islands sound exciting at least. I've never been there, so you'll have to tell me all about them when you get back. The Zoo should be an easy place to meet. It's in walking distance from the house, which makes it so much easier.

Yours,
Cam

Cam,

Sorry I just got your last letter, it was on my desk when I got home, I must have just missed it. The isles are fun, it's my mum's family that lives there and I have a ton of cousins on that side, felt like one long game of quidditch and an even longer party.

There are some fascinating ruins to explore and we pretty much had the run of the place, I'm exhausted, slept until almost noon today.

I think Calla and I are going to the zoo in a couple days, she asked when I went to pick Splash up from staying with them.  I couldn't say no. Do you still want to do that or figure something else out? I don't mind either way.
Fondly,
Sloane

Sloane,

You're lucky to have such a large family. With the Bells I have more "cousins" (you know, Alycone and all), but on my mother's side I have practically no one. Then again, our family situations are about as different as they could be. I hope your brothers didn't terrorize you too much—Greta certainly never stops.

We can do whatever you prefer, honestly. I've been to the Zoo enough during the summer, but any trip with you wouldn't be to see the creatures. Just let me know what you want.

Yours,
Cam

Cam,

I'm never short on people to bother, that's for sure. Which of course goes both ways, but I think Wally has learned his lesson as of late. He's gotten punched more than he would like for being obnoxious.

I just started working at the Potts' shop this week, so I've been a little busy, sorry! It's fun, keeps me busy and moving. Learning a lot from her sisters, should be good for my Herbology grade. I'll let you know when I have my next day off?

What's keeping you busy these days?
Fondly,
Sloane

Sloane,

I don't envy them. I'm not sure what I would do if Greta decided to start punching me one day.

The Potts shop sounds like a nice way to spend your time. Earn some money, get out of the house, spend time with Calla. I thought about trying to get a job at the Apothecary this summer, but I decided I'm better off waiting until I get my OWL scores back. It would be awful to spend the whole summer learning about different ingredients and meeting all sorts of people who use potions only to find out I wouldn't be able to take it at a NEWT level, you know?

Anyways, I've found other ways to be busy. I'd tell you that I've been reading, but then you might think I've become a different person entirely.

Affectionately,
Cam

Cam,

It's been a lot of fun! You should have tried the apothecary! Regardless of NEWTs, it would have been good experience. Results come out soon though, right?

I should have some free time at the end of next week, would that work for you to try and visit?
Fondly,
Sloane
