Full Name: Mahdi Elrashidy.
Birthdate: 7th August, 1856.
Current Age: Thirty-three.
Occupation: Quidditch League Referee.
Reputation: Eight. Quidditch guy, foreigner, but no scandal.
Residence: Pennyworth.
Hogwarts House: Unknown.
Wand: 16 inches, ebony with a dragon heartstring core. He can use both arms with equal power due to his profession but he favours his right.
Blood Status: Muggleborn.
Social Class: Working.
Appearance: In his playing days Mahdi was blessed with a wiry but deceptively strong build that made him excellent in his position and made many opponents underestimate him to their detriment. Since then he has filled out a little, though his active profession keeps the worst away, and his six feet of height is topped off with black curly hair and dark brown eyes. He is often mistaken for a variety of other nationalities as the British are notoriously terrible at differentiating between them.
History:
1856: Born in the heat of Cairo to lower class labourers Mahdi's early life was filled with love and laughter but was not without its hardships. The birth of his sister, not one year after Mahdi, strained the family finances considerably and it was only through sheer perseverance and hard work that they stayed afloat. Due to this time in his life Mahdi is philosophical about times of struggle and reasons that there is nothing so great that hard work cannot overcome it. He hears his father when he thinks of this phrase and smiles.
1864: At the age of 8 Mahdi begins to show signs of what he will later know to be magic, but at the time he is merely surprised by his secret skill. Ever the sensible boy he exercises caution and controls himself with precision around his family but is sometimes able to make animals bend to his will and move things just by thinking about it.
1867: At 11 all becomes clearer when he is invited to attend the Egyptian school for magical studies. By this time his maternal grandparents had passed away which left his slightly confused parents in a better financial position and able to send Mahdi to school.
He is a quiet and accomplished student, appreciating his lessons and the world that opens up before him but it is at school that he discovers his lifelong passion: Quidditch. The school team quickly spots the potential of the young player and towards the end of his schooling he is seen by an Egyptian League team and offered a position.
1874: Having just turned 18 Mahdi began his career on the reserves of his team, training hard for years and honing his skills with a bat before eventually being elevated to the first string. Several years later he is invited to join Egyptian National Team, an honour that sends his mother into fits of pride despite having no idea what Quidditch actually is.
1883: By now he is Captain of both his league and national teams and one of the older members of both. With his career coming to a close he intends to win one last trophy and then retire gracefully, and it is in Hogsmeade that his ambitions reach their apex and Egypt lifts the Quidditch World Cup.
1884: Tragedy strikes when illness takes both his mother and father in quick succession, leaving him and his recently married sister to divide the remaining estate. With what little money he inherits, along with the more substantial funds he has saved and earned off the back of his world cup win, Mahdi travels for short time, finding some peace in quieter, cooler European climbs.
1885: Mahdi returns to Britain and settles in London, opting to utilise his years of experience to become a Quidditch League Referee, a position that thankfully doesn't put too much of a strain upon his still limited English.
1890: Five years later his sister and brother-in-law move to Hogsmeade and Mahdi moves to Pennyworth to be closer to them.
Personality: Quiet. Calm. Surprisingly good bridge player. Law-abiding. Nerd. Quick-thinker.
Other:
+ Occasionally his previous celebrity is mentioned in print and though he pretends to be embarrassed he is far too pleased by former glory to carry off this deception.
+ Both of his parents are dead and his sister is married to an Egyptian translator at the British Ministry, thus giving him very little reason to return to the country of his birth.
+ Now speaks near fluent English, along with some French.
+ Former Beater for the Egyptian National Team.
Age: 30.
