- Griffin Dewberry - Father - b. 1841
Bridget Dewberry - Mother - b. 1850
- Alaina Dewberry - Spinster Aunt - b. 1845
- Blacksmith's Apprentice - Pseudo brother - a young man
Appearance:
Standing at five feet even, Gigi is on the shorter side. However, her figure is not as slight as one would expect. Years of manual labor have left her with wiry muscle. Her hands are rough and calloused. She is surprisingly strong.
She has curly ginger hair that is kept short. Bright blue eyes stand out against her hair and ruddy, freckled complexion.
At school, her style of dress is feminine, but she is obviously uncomfortable with it. She is more at home in the boys' fashion of the day.
She is ambidextrous, preferring to use her wand with her left hand.
History:
- 1873 - Gildea is born on a hot summer's day. Her mother dies from blood loss shortly after her birth. Her father, a skilled blacksmith, is left a widower and a father all at once. He writes to his unmarried sister in Ireland and requests her help with the newborn. Several weeks later, her aunt arrives. Though she possesses experience as a governess, the woman finds acting as a mother to be a wholly different challenge altogether.
- 1878 - With no plans to marry again and no other children, Gildea's father decides to start training her in his craft. Her aunt, concerned that she's being put on the fast track to spinsterhood, intervenes. Alaina convinces Griffin to send her to a local church school. Alaina's hope is that, at least during the weekdays, Gildea can learn how to be a proper lady. This does not happen. Griffin also takes on an apprentice.
- 1883 - Until she's ten years old Gildea - now going by Gigi - lives a fairly normal life. Much to her aunt's dismay, she grows into a rough, hard headed tomboy. She's frequently wrestled out of trousers and into dresses until her aunt gives up on her. Griffin's apprentice is sweet on Gigi and invites her to work alongside him when he's manning the forge. Her father instructs her on the finer points of the trade when he has the time. The path to her future is a clear one. Then, it is terribly disrupted when Gigi shows her first signs of magic. During an argument with her aunt, the fireplace spontaneously bursts into flames. After a nightmare, the candle in her room lights itself. The hearth flares unnaturally in a moment of joy at her metalwork. Her aunt think its the devil and prays over her. Her father doesn't know what to think. She is pulled out of school and put to work full time, close to home.
- 1884 - The answers to the Dewberrys' mounting questions come on and after Gigi's eleventh birthday. She receives a letter from 'Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry', which is written off entirely as a joke. This changes when a very real wizard shows up at their doorstep to spin them the greatest yarn they've ever heard. Their view of the world is expanded significantly. After some thought, Gigi's father decides that it is the best place for her, for as long as she wants to be there. They fumble over the motions as they try to get Gigi ready to be schooled in witchcraft and all sorts of mysterious things. In September, the Hogwarts Express carries an awestruck Gigi off, away from her family for the first time. She is sorted into Gryffindor. Gigi is clever, but still struggles with her classes. She's too stubborn to be discouraged and bashes her head against those academic walls until knowledge shakes loose. She falls in love with Quidditch and almost immediately becomes a rabid fan of the sport.
- 1885-87 - The longer she's immersed in it, the easier magic comes to Gigi. By the time her third year comes around, she's more confident about her place in the world. Of course, the halfbreed ban comes in to undermine that confidence. To Gigi, going from banning halfbreeds to banning muggleborns isn't that big of a step at all. She is antsy for the first half of the year. The full repeal of the ban proves to be a huge relief. She chooses Ghoul Studies, Earth Magic, and Care of Magical Creatures as her OWL electives.
- 1888-89 - Hogwarts provides an inroad to many other facets of the magical world. Gigi's aspirations change as she's exposed to more of it. The simple life of a city blacksmith becomes an increasingly distant idea. She wants to travel and break curses and duel with dark wizards. The path to such a life as a young woman would be difficult, but Gigi was nothing if not a girl who liked challenges. She focuses even more intently on her studies and sets her sights on a Ministry job. After a mix of As, Es, and Os on the OWL exams, Gigi selects a full course load for her NEWTs. With CoMC, Charms, DADA, Ghoul Studies, Herbology, Potions, and Transfiguration on her plate, sixth year is set to be a difficult one.

Sample Roleplay Post:
Another lady made an appearance and, though she'd come a little late, Emerson was no less thrilled by her presence. She'd never had much of a mind for time herself, anyway. "Oh, you're not interrupting anything!" Emerson waved off the apologies easily and ushered her further inside. "No more apologies. It's fine, really. Thank you for your dish." Emerson moved to take it from her, already scouting an open space on the dining table. "Your name, dear?"
Once the dish had been set down and the newest woman's name had been secured, Emerson encouraged the women gathered to partake again. She dished out her own plate and went out to the living room, settling down near the wide coffee table where her pack of cards had been placed earlier.
Not particularly hungry at the moment, Emerson picked at her dish as the other members trickled in and took up seats. She let them eat and chat a little before setting her plate aside. Eyes bright and tarot cards in hand, she addressed them.
"As you already know, tonight is all about divination. For those of you who don't know, is the practice of seeking knowledge of the future through various means. Some people use tea leaves, runes, pendulums, stones, or even bones. No one method is 'the best'; what you choose to use is about what hones your abilities most efficiently and gives you the clearest, most reliable results. The method I personally prefer is card reading." She shook the pack in her hand demonstratively. "Reading cards can be a complex business, so I'll explain a bit after an example. Who wants to go first?" Emerson looked back and forth at them expectantly. They wouldn't be here if they didn't want to participate, surely.
