History:
I know a place
It's somewhere I go when I need to remember your face
— Childhood —
1853: | Treasure Knox is born to a pair of working class individuals who were Hogwarts sweethearts. They both worked in domestic service as had their parents before them and so on. It is not long after their marriage (but certainly long enough for there to not be any untoward speculations!) that they had their firstborn. Treasure ultimately ended up being an only child. |
1859: | Treasure shows his first signs of magic by vanishing a pile of papers sitting on his fathers desk. He had wanted the man to play with him instead. The couple celebrated their sons feat with a small cake and a hand-carved present. This also prompts his turn to take part in a sort of family tradition: beginning training and education in domestic service. He would undergo these studies until he went off to Hogwarts. |
Something to do whilst we try to recall how we met
— Hogwarts —
1864: | Treasure headed off to Hogwarts where he was promptly sorted into Hufflepuff. He is charismatic and quick to make friends. Knowing that his time at the castle is limited, Treasure makes the most of it. As his time at Hogwarts goes on, he is more than happy to help in troublemaking shenanigans. |
1867: | The time that he knew was coming comes to head: he has to leave Hogwarts due to the low finances of his family. He goes into domestic service like many of his family before him, starting as a hall boy for the family his parents service. |
It's the same damn thing that made my heart surrender
— After Hogwarts —
1869-1871: | He is sixteen when his employers announce that they are downsizing and won't have need of him in the new residence. They give him a good recommendation and even a suggestion of where to go: the Avery household. It is a bit of a happy surprise to discover this to be the home of a boy he had been friendly with at school. He doesn't need to be asked twice to join in on the antics of Myles Avery. Treasure is drawn to him. Fun, thrill-seeking antics turn into things more intimate. Things that have Treasure chancing a flirt here, a touch there. Soon enough, they are entwined in one anothers arms. |
1871: | Things seemed to be going happily enough until they were both caught together that Christmas. It is all terrible but they escape to the home of his lovers aunt. Treasure has thoughts of running away together. Knox is promptly kicked out of the home of Myles's aunt. Knox goes to his parents who shelter him though he does not tell them what has happened. The Avery's summon him and Knox decides to go. Maybe he can convince them to take Myles back. Something. Maybe he can fix this. Only they insist he stay away from Myles. They say exactly what is needed to needle Knox's guilty conscience. He had ruined the life of a man he claimed to love, surely the best thing he could do was to not have Myles ruin it any worse? There are other things said but the end result is the same: Treasure is left feeling deeply that Myles is better off without him and he is given a glowing reference and as position as a footman to another family. A promotion from his previous position. |
— Adulthood —
1877-1884: | The family Knox is working for moves to Wellingtonshire, Hogsmeade. The move finds him being appointed as a valet. The fact this is partially due to it being a smaller residence (and the previous valet decided he did not want to move along with the family) matters not. A win is a win. The notion of an all wizarding village is novel to Knox and on his times off, he enjoys just exploring the place. They reside here until the fire which destroys the house in its entirety. |
1884-1890: | After the fire, the family move to a countryside estate where Knox is promoted to Head Butler. In his personal life, he enjoys a dalliance now and then but keeps his hands off of anyone that is not a fellow working class man. It always feels hollow and not as passionate as what he experienced with Myles Avery. Which is kind of annoying because Treasure is an inherently passionate man. |
1891-1893: | When the son of the family he serves is wed, Knox is given to him as a sort of wedding gift. Knox finds it both flattering and offensive to be considered a gift. Well, whatever. They eventually move to London as the new Mrs prefers city life. That is fine by Treasure because the more concerning thing for him is who they moved in next to. Myles Avery is the Head Butler next door. Treasure can not help but be amused. |
