Shock Endorsement from Minister of Magic
Ross Endorses Ozymandias Dempsey
The below is a message received to this paper from the Minister of Magic on personal letterhead —
To the editor,
I am endorsing Mr. Ozymandias Dempsey in the upcoming election for Minister of Magic.
My endorsement in this election is based on multiple levels: Mr. Dempsey's answers in the debates, his public actions and platform, and our private discussions. Mr. Dempsey also went above-and-beyond in his duties during the dragon attack on September 14th, successfully calling in Magical Accidents & Catastrophes before returning to London and staying all night — actions that led to his endorsement from my friend, Wizengamot member, and Department Head Mr. Edric Umbridge.
Mr. Dempsey would approach the Ministry as a construction of many parts, which would help him accomplish his policy aims — aims that include expanding magical communities, increasing the safety of our communities through adjusted werewolf policy, and potential voting reform.
My endorsement of Mr. Dempsey was strengthened by his statement on working with the Queen and Prime Minister in the debate on September 29th: "If the Queen and Prime Minister trust us to keep their citizens safe, we are safe from their intervention. To that end, communication with them should be focused on their needs as a government first and ours second — and in situations like this one, on making all reasonable reassurances that we will return their community to the status quo as expeditiously as possible."
This would ensure that we are not returning to the state we were in in 1877, which was incredibly dangerous for the wizarding world.
My second choice is Mr. Aldous Crouch and I would encourage those undecided to choose between these two candidates. But I will be voting proudly for Mr. Ozymandias Dempsey on October 19th.
Minister Ross' endorsement may be a surprise to those who considered Mr. Dempsey a less-likely candidate, but aligns with the expectations of analysts who expected his vote to align with Mr. Umbridge's, a close political ally of the Minister.
