Malcorvus Flint vs. Lionel Lupin
#1
July 24th, 1892 — Headquarters of the London Society for the Practice of Combative Magic

As much as Charles wanted to go home he supposed the final duel of the supposedly advanced duelists ought to be the most interesting. Ought to be. He wasn't holding his breath. He wasn't sure how seeing Flint defeat Lupin would be better than watching Flint best his own son, the tournament had surely peaked already.
With a sigh he started to go over the rules a final time. Mr. Flint, please begin.

It was the final duel and Malcorvus wasn't at all surprised he made it this far. Even if he lost the final match being second wasn't anything to be disappointed in. His personal pride however, wouldn't settle for anything less than winning the competition and he fully intended to give it his best shot.

Malcorvus listened to the rules once again, his mind more focused on his strategy than the actual rules. He already knew them by heart and his memory was still as sharp as it ever was he certainly wouldn't forget them. As tradition meant something to him, he formally bowed his opponent before taking his position in the dueling circle and prepared his opening spell.

As was his habit, he used a non-verbal spell, preferring not to give any hint as to which spell he would use. For his opening spell he cast a reflection shield, designed to reflect any spell cast at him right back to the caster.

If Lionel lost here, he would take it in stride. He had a lot of respect for Mister Flint and considered it an honor that he was matched up against him in the final round. As his turn to cast came, Lionel cast a spell that would have the other man freezing in place.

Ever since we met I've got just one regret to live through and that one regret is you

There was one wizard frozen in place and that wizard was Mr. Lionel. Charles muse regrets that you're getting tail-end tipsy Olive postage but hopefully you will find it entertaining albeit unprofessional. The first round to Mr. Lupin who will begin the second! In hindsight I didn't write enough to make funnies, sorry. Charles hoped there would be more aggression in the next round of spells.

For his next spell, Lionel cast a spell that would have the older mans mouth disappear if it worked correctly.

Malcorvus knew he couldn't lose the next two rounds if he was to win the competition. Sticking to non-verbal spells, he cast a full body bind hex, something he had mastered so long ago it took no effort at all to cast non-verbally. Personally he felt the spell was unimaginative but he preferred not to fall into any patterns which could be used against him.

Charles blinked as he felt disappointment bubbling up within. He'd thought Mr. Flint would probably have been the better of the two wizards if only because he had seniority on his side and he'd not been afraid to pummel his son out of the competition earlier. It seemed to Charles that he'd neglected to consider the fact the old man might have tired himself out today. That was surely the only explanation for the resounding defeat he'd just witnessed and how utterly anti-climactic it was. Wow.

There was Mr. Flint, literally rendered speechless. It hadn't stopped him from casting his spell but it might've been responsible for it missing its target by a hair's breadth. Mr. Lupin is the winner! He waved his wand at Flint's face and restored his mouth to him.
