My dear sister,

I trust that you and the children are well; I spent the evening at the club with your husband earlier in the week, but I know I have been negligent in my visits to you. I swear most solemnly that I shall make it up to you in the near future, but for the meantime, please do let this letter appease you.

I write with exciting news: I am to be married, to Miss Helga Scamander. I know that it will offend your romantic sensibilities, that I did not court and woo her with flowers and poetry before asking for her hand, but I hope that it will make you happy to know that I have considered the matter thoroughly, and consider Miss Scamander to be the very best match that I might hope for. Furthermore, I believe that the two of you will be well-suited as companions, and hope that you will welcome her with all the warmness befitting a new sister.

I trust you will have much to say on this matter, and look forward to your next letter.

With affection,
Aldous

Roman,

I write to you first in the hopes that our sister will not spoil the news in her excitement: I am to be married to Miss Helga Scamander, though dates have not yet been discussed. Should you care to attend the club in the coming week, that we might discuss this in greater depth? I expect this comes as rather abrupt, though I assure you, the entire matter is completely and utterly above board.

Reuben,

I am to be married, date to be determined, to Miss Helga Scamander. Please note that I have informed you well in advance, and indeed, have her father's consent and blessing.

Reuben,

[Awkward pleasantries]

Though not quite so exciting an addition as my charming niece, I am pleased to share that our family is to grow further still: I have asked Miss Helga Scamander to be my wife, and she has been kind enough to consent. I shall inform you of the nuptial details when there are details; in the meanwhile, I trust that you and your family will remain well. Though I should like to arrange some sort of formal introductions prior to the wedding, it will, of course, depend on what's to come.

Aldous,
To be married? And to Miss Helga Scamander. A fine match indeed, brother! You have my congratulations.

I can make time for you on the tenth of November. We can enjoy a meal at the club and you can tell me more. I also had something that I wished to discuss with you that might be in a mildly similar vein so it works out quite well.
Until then,
Roman

Aldous,

This is certainly a surprise, although a pleasant one. I'm not sure I follow when you write 'it will depend on what's to come,' but in any case I am eager to meet her and hope to do so well before she becomes my sister by law.

Dearest brother,

My sincere congratulations to you both.

However, I must state my considerable shock at the suddenness of this news. It is certainly not as shocking as past nuptials but I confess I am surprised to hear of your engagement before courtship.

Are you quite taken with Miss Scamander?

Are you absolutely certain of her, that she will be a good wife for you?

Please forgive me if caution was not what you were hoping for, it is not the news itself but merely the surprise of it that has alarmed me. Decisions made in haste are so rarely for the best and you are not one to act in haste. I trust this attachment is not as sudden to you as it is to me?

Yours,
Nova

My dear sister,

I take your concern as, I am sure, it was intended: out of love for me an interest in my future happiness. A swift engagement it may be, but I assure you the nuptials themselves will not be hasty, for we intend to wait into the new year. Miss Scamander is a very prudent choice, and one that, over time, I can envision myself bearing a deal of affection. I hope that once you have met her in this new capacity and spent some time with one another, you will bear her affection as well.

With utmost fondness,
Aldous

Dearest brother,

Your letter was most reassuring though I should not have needed it, I know you to have the most sound of judgement in all things.

I very much look forward to properly acquainting myself with Miss Scamander and discovering for myself the many virtues that have captured your interest.

Ever yours,
Nova
