The Auror Offices
With NaNo fast approaching, I remembered that I have this in my drafts on Faustus' account and forgot to post it (what a surprise).I WOULD LIKE YOUR THOUGHTS ON THE BELOW PLS - nothing is really set in stone, this is just me spit-balling. Feel free to add on, petition to change etc. Ideally, once we flesh this out if we want, I'll edit this original post so it's all in one cohesive spot.
Petition to flesh out the Auror Offices and their duties a bit more, esp since we've done that for the Auror Training Program! A lot of the below I've gotten from referencing the Auror Office HP wiki.
** Additionally, there is likely on-site lore that I've forgotten, so pls don't hesitate to point that out if Ive missed anything
LOCATION: The Auror Offices are located on Level Two of the Ministry Of Magic. It consists of many open cubicles with each one belonging to an Auror. The Head Auror's office is located at one end with the entrance to the offices being in the center. A break room is at the opposite end from the HA office.
***Are the Auror Trainees designated to this office as well, or do they have their own department?
INTERNAL STRUCTURE: Referencing the wiki, it looks like among the Aurors there's a sort of internal structure, which would make sense. More senior Aurors would be the ones to take charge in an investigation/case, much like a Head Investigator/Detective. Others who were not the lead and/or were more junior would aid in researching and helping out in the investigations.
*** How would this work with our own structure so far?
In addition to acting as lead auror in an investigation, there's also the intelligence aspect of it all - more acting as protection/bodyguards for high-profile cases or for Muggle authority figures like in the books.
Perhaps each Auror has a preference for a section and so is assigned to those specific fields more often than not, but it could also be that every auror dabbles in a bit of everything. Depends on how structured we want the department to be.
Also, depending on what case they're looking at, Aurors would have a partner they work with when they need to be sent out into the field (thx Emma for reminding me this would def be a thing lol)
OTHER DETAILS: After the events of the Sanditon flood and having my character's face almost losing their wands, I wondered if it would make sense that Aurors often carry other items on them for self-defense and other practical purposes. For example, a knife or dagger on a sheath on their person in case they need to cut something or use it in hand-to-hand combat/what have you. This would also extend to other offices in general especially when dealing with natural disasters that could separate the witch/wizard from their wand.
