"Professor Tatting,

as you know, I have been part of your class for the better part of the last three years. Muggle Studies is a topic of great interest of mine since as long as I can remember, due to my interest in both muggle fiction and their ordinary lives.

As you might be aware, I have been fond of writing for over a decade, though I do not have half the talent and confidence of certain muggle authors I have come across in recent years. Your class is the reason why I have adventure myself into writing stories that belong better to a world different than that of us, wizards, and it's opened my eyes about muggles. It is certainly a grand thing what you have achieved as a professor, and I wish more students were inclined to take your class.

However, recent events haven't been kind to myself and my family. I don't wish to go into details, though I'm sure you must have read of it in newspapers. It is not an excuse for my lack of focus, and my sudden distance towards students, but I can't deny it has affected me - my grades do not lie. Knowing I have taken an "E" in your class had me in great distress, given "O" is the minimum grade to continue it at NEWTs level.

With that in mind, I hope this is not much to ask. Would you consider taking me as a student at NEWTs level? I will work towards learning what else I haven't from previous years, and try my best to surprise you with my studying. Unfortunately, there are no promises I could make that do not risk turning into lies, therefore I can only promise to try. I will be please if you could still take me in as a student.

Respectfully,
King Lukeson."

Dear Mr. King Lukeson,
Pardon me for the delay. Given last years events that lead to the separation of myself and my own family, taking time to be with them has been my top priority.

With this said, I understand stresses in life can be a terrible distraction, especially with what has happened with your own family. Given this, I am willing to allow you to take the NEWTs course provided that we have tutoring sessions twice a week.

If you would be willing, I would also love to read some of your works on writing. Continue your work, as perhaps your writing will go down in history as many others have. Don't sell yourself short Mr. Lukeson.

With Respect,
Professor Jeremiah Tatting

“Dear professor Tatting,

there is nothing to be concerned regarding delays. If anything, the better men are those who have more to look for than their work and duties. I do not mean to pry, but I hope your family has been alright. I, too, have tried to be there for my siblings to the best I can, though it isn’t easy. I suppose one should not complain.

Thank you, sir, for your kindness and understanding. I should have my schedule free, aside from classes hours, of which I imagine professors can access. In that case, the hours that fit you best will be better for me.

I shall bring you one of my stories, then, for our first tutoring session. Although I’m not sure how much of it is selling myself short and how much is true - I can only hope to one day do as well as some of the wizards and muggle authors who have come before us.
Once again, thank you for your understanding.

Respectfully,
King Lukeson."
