”We Are All Going to Die”
Woman Protests Impending Carnival
Visitors and patients at Hogsmeade Hospital were treated to a bit of a spectacle yesterday: Miss Eloise Withering and her house elf had set up shop, each carrying a sign condemning the carnival workers currently undergoing quarantine within. Miss Withering’s sign read “WE ARE ALL GOING TO DIE”, while the house elf’s bore the slogan, “NEVER AGAIN”.
Neither party seemed to impact the daily dealings of the hospital itself, and so law enforcement officials saw no need to intervene. Several visitors, though, seemed markedly disturbed by the dark messages, which Miss Withering connected to the coming of the Summer Solstice Festival.
“The carnies are already here, infecting our sick, our healers,” Miss Withering explained afterwards. “We must expel them from our community before their sickness spreads, and wipes us all out! To say that it was "short-sighted" of the Ministry to allow this to happen is the understatement of the century.”
When asked for comment, Ministry of Magic officials reiterated the safeguards in place to ensure no repeat of history. Magical Bugs healer Ramsay Darrow added that the carnival workers have not yet shown symptoms of so much as a cold, and insists that there is nothing for the public to worry about.
Miss Withering lost her fiancé, two sisters, and both parents to the Laughing Plague of ’84. Now almost thirty, she has given up hope of rebuilding with a new family.
